I agree, I like the first shot too. The ones in color are so busy that the fruit stand is lost in the action.

Baskets: Why are all mine posting horizontally?
Can't let a whole day go by without a post. Two versions of the same picture.

Well, when I started tinting this shot, I decided to do it selectively, and it ended up looking like an old postcard to me, so I through on the type. This is taken at Lotusland (obviously) an amazing garden that was built by an amazing woman, Madame Ganna Walska

That's a very nice piece of work, David.

Since I'd never tried it before, here's some fun with the Hue/Saturation layering in colorize, as Cletus suggested.

OK, this is one I would have submitted for the Paths challenge, had my computer not taken a dive. It ws rather colorless, so I used Andy's luminence toning tip for starters, then did a blur layer, and also yellow, brown and red layers.

Hey gimp, how ya feeling? You doing alright?

I like the b&w version because he's so backlit, it makes a logical contrast. Looks good.

Thanks sid.. this really is'nt my best shot but I'm so bored with not being able to get out I'm diggin deep for something to play with... I'm doing great actually, pain is way way down and I'm hoppin about a lot. Maybe I can get out today somehow with my camera and take a shot or two of "People in my neighborhood" ... by the way, is everyone else singing that song? or just me...
    :D
