The 12th and 13th photo here http://davidson.smugmug.com/gallery/633473/1/45074883 say processing image. They didn't always say this, I know there was a time (as recent as two days ago in fact) where the images were there. I didn't back these up. Any ideas?

You didn't move them to another gallery or something like that?
There's not much we can do about it here. Mail the links to both pictures to help@smugmug.com and let them have a look at it. I hope they can do something about it.
Keep us updated on what they figure out.

I'll see what can be done. You don't have a local copy?

Well, I might, I should, but I don't think I do. They weren't good photos, so they I might have not considered them worth backing up, but still I'd like to have them.

Okay -- regardless of whether or not the photos can be recovered (and I doubt it) ... please take the following standard precaution:

ALWAYS keep a local copy of all your image files - no matter how "worth it" you think they are.

These 2 photos never made it thru the processing stage, for any one of a number of reasons: could be an error in the file (a bad jpg), could be an error in the uploading (rare, but it happens).

Remember: save your data. I think that you'll find that most folks consider SmugMug to be tertiary or maybe perhas secondary backup - but first and foremost: do it yourself. Here's what I do with all my images:

    * originals dumped to folder on my Mac.
    * final JPGs are stored on SmugMug
    * nightly, automated backup of all my files to an external hard drive
    * for giggles, once a month I backup to DVD

    I hope this helps,

Well, I don't have HD space (or money) so I'd have to dvd everything. But yeah, I know I should be backing up more thoroughly. The thing that confuses me though is that at one point those images were there.

From what I'm told, that just can't be - they don't go from "processing image" to a live image then back to "processing" it's not possible... but we're still checking, stay tuned.

Well it's possible I'm making a mistake. I always check that all of them uploaded before I delete the photos, but I'm the type of person who makes a lot of mistakes.

So can I change that gallery back to use my style instead of basic smugmug?

Have you ever seen the 'fish-slap dance' from Monty Python? I think the designer got the idea from that scetch :D
I can't grasp the notion of time.

When I hear the earth will melt into the sun,
    in two billion years,
    all I can think is:
"Will that be on a Monday?"
