I recently returned from India after a 3 week vacation with loads of pictures including some cool birds. Most are still to be prcessed, but here are some..
It was actually not considered 'good' season as the migratory birds had all left by Feb !

thanks, Awais ! Most of these are from the Bharatpur bird sanctuary, and Okhla - in North India - the 1st in Rajasthan, about 3-4 hrs, and the other about 1 hr from New Delhi. I'd imagine you have similar birding ops in Pakistan ?

Some of my other Bharatpur pics at http://vandana.smugmug.com/gallery/1415151 and Okhla at

It must be refreshing to get out and experience other countries with their cultures, customs and, of course, flora and fauna. I really appreciate you sharing these (for me at least) exotic birds. thumb.gif

Excellent shots. Its interesting to see the similarities with the birds in the US and the differences especially in the coloring.

thanks a lot Mike! Considering the weather in Florida and India are quite alike, It's just a matter of time( a very long Darwinian sortof time !) before they're in your backyard !

Thanks for effort putting these together to share with us on D-grin. They all are excellent exposures and good choices to show us the many different birds from around the world; my favorite being the swamphen. Looking forward to seeing more.

thanks a lot everybody for looking and the comments !
Harry - yeah, that struck me too especially when I saw a black-necked stilt yesterday out here - exactly the same in India ; they have the rest -the egrets, the blue herons ( they call 'em grey, but they look very similar), the night heron etc. well, no bald eagle there :D ... purely american ?! it's quite interesting !
