Got to go, I'm headed over to the Nature Park for some egret shots.

    Thanks guys.

I was surprised to see the raccoon in the middle of the day.
I normally only see them at dusk, or in the middle of the night tipping
    over trash cans.

    What Nature Center
    Dave,

Love the Egrets in the dead tree. In what nature center are you photographing? I've been going to the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge for Egrets (Old Shakopee Road and Cedar Avenue).

    Craig.

Same place, just closer to the airport.

Start out at the vistors center, and pretty much walk the path down the hill.
These were from the path to the left, as you're walking away from the center.

The directions to the center can be found at the bottom of this page.

There were a lot of egrets there. About 25-30 of them, but they were just
a bit out of range for the 400mm.

Ah yes Racoon. When I was a young man some guy in North Carolina found a Racoon in his food.

Well at least someone saw some good wildlife on the trip. I love the elk shot Dave. Please tell me you saw them somewhere besides Bryce and Zion so I can feel a little better about not seeing them.

The Elk were from Rocky Mountain National Park.

These were laying around by the entrance.

Here's the worst shot of a moose calf you'll ever see.
Some A-hole with a pocket point and shoot tried to get closer to the calf
to get a shot. At that point, the calf headed back into the brush.
I was hoping the mother moose would make a little run at the guy.
I would have gotten some shots of it, but it didn't happen. umph.gif

    72476071-O.jpg

Then we have these guys. I think they're Clark's nutcrackers.
They were a dime a dozen.

    72476078-O.jpg

In the northern part of Utah, we did see a Golden Eagle sitting on a rock.

    69846777-O.jpg

We did see a lot of ravens, pronghorns, prairie dogs, hawks, lizards, stuff
like that. But I really didn't get any "good" shots. I got shots to prove we
saw them, but nothing to brag about.
    That's about it for wildlife.

Tom, are you saying that the raccoon killed the guy?
I've never heard of that. Our next door neighbor has a large, 80 pound dog,
some kind of hound, that took on a raccoon. The dog ended up with a $300
vet bill, but it did kill the raccoon.

I'll admit that I never thought of a raccoon as a scary animal, but I'm
    changing my mind about it.
