Zoo creatures!

Over Turkey weekend I was visiting some family outside of St. Louis, so I figured I'd take advantage of the zoo! It turned out to be a kind of a bad day: a million people and bright sunlight to reflect off of the dirt on much of the glass windows. But eh, I still got to practice "wildlife" photography. :D

I find that I've been commenting more than sharing photos lately, and this IS a photo community so.....

This one is actually a little bit naughty:

These little penguins moved WAY fast and I wasn't able to get any really great shots of the tuxedo dudes:

And while not "wild," he's got character and he's an animal:

Very nice series. I like the low angle in the first pic.

    Thanks for sharing.

Great shots! I live just outside of St. Louis so I take full advantage of the zoo! It's amazing & it's free! :) I really like your hippo shot & the one of the malayan sun bear in the tree!

    Schoo,
Yay! I really like the hippo shot :) Were these at the DC zoo? I haven't been there since I was in high school. I need to pick a weekend and get up there...of course now it's going to be cold. (though it's 74 wonderful degrees today!)

Nice job through the glass with the lemur too!

Thanks everyone! Phyxius this was the St. Louis zoo in MO, but I keep meaning to go back to DC because (in addition to it also being free) it's so big. I haven't been there in years and I do think that it's about time I go back. It's not the same as stalking a big heron out in the wild, but it'll do for a city girl. ;)

no. 1 is my favorite. Nice soft lighting and water with eyes popping out.
What more can you ask for?
I'd also like to see it in b/w.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
