Hi Brian,
I like that Drone Fly, quite a large looking fly isn't it.
Are they slow flyers?
The whole series is great, and I love the markings on the Wolf Spider

Drone flies are hoverflies- very fast sometimes but otherwise doing a bit of hovering. The males hover above a bit of territory (normally a nice flowering shrub) and chase away intruders (not just other droneflies). Had a dogfight between a drone fly and a beefly today.
They are normally mistaken as bees (about the same size)

I like shooting in natural light as long as it is slightly cloudy. Hate shooting in bright sunshine you get worse colour and reflections than you do with diffused flash- sounds rather perverse but that's when I shoot flash only.
