Hi Y'all,

Its that time of the year when I need to pick my 5 entries into the St. Augustine Alligator Farm's yearly photo contest and I need your help again. Last year with your valuable input I got 3 months in their calendar and I'm hoping to get a month or two this year. All potential winnings will go to "Harry's home for Wayward Lenses".

I started out with a 1,000 plus shots and I got down to 15. Out of the 15 I need to choose 5 shots to enter into the contest. I would love to get your input on this. Here are the "finalists":

They should just give you the whole calendar as for as I am concerned!

tough decision, all so good. I know its so hard to pick favorites versus best composition. 4,7 and 10 are my favorites. They each have something more unusual. Good luck!thumb.gif

Harry --- My top choices are numbers 4, 8, and 12. #4 is a very nice photo. #8 captures the comic personalities of the storks. However, I would try reframing #12 to emphasize the strong diagonal of the egret with the strong diagonals of the trees (e.g., take out some of the background at the right). I also like Zanotti's suggestion of your punk haired herons. The rest are about a tie for me. --- John

Well Harry, It's not easy to choose 5 of your pictures and rank them but I tried with the following results:

    # 1...Picture 12
    # 2...Picture 8
    # 3...Picture 1
    # 4...Picture 4
    # 5...Picture 14

Love your comments on #12. One of the reasons I first took the shot were the strong lines of the trees in the background. I'm gonna try a couple of different crops later today. Thanks.

    Harry you take some amazing shots. I prefer 12, 5, 10, 14, and 4.

But an of them would be nice in the end. If you pick 6 or 7 I would clean up the dust spots.

I've picked out six (sorry - they're all good!): 1, 4, 5, 7 (like it much better than 6 - the green in the upswept wing really adds interest IMHO), 12 and 14.

good luck with the choice and w/ the contest.

It's a good thing that you narrowed it down to 15, otherwise my mind would have been boggled beyond any use.

    ok here's my first cut
    1,3, and
six instead of seven. I like seven because of the colors showing in the feathers, but otherwise I chose six.
    8,9,11,12,14

    Here's the final cut:
    1,3,6,8,11

Good luch Harry. I'm sure you'll be a multiple pick again!

    Happy 4th.
