Yeah, nice. I like the shot. Generally, I like my b+w's a little more contrasty to add a slightly stronger look, but that's a personal thing.

Mine should get here today!! I can't wait to start taking some shots with an f/1.4. I only hope I can capture some quality shots such as this one! Great shot thumb.gif

Generally, I think this is a very nice portrait. I'd like to see some more detail in the highlight of his forehead. Perhaps a more technical B&W conversion would accomplish this. Also perhaps could open up some detail in the eyes. Perhaps highlight/shadow before the conversion?
    If not now, when?

I agree with Rutt's obs. A little more detail in the forehead, and more light in the eyes. Very nice pose, good moment. nod.gif

Thanks for the comments and help, here's a 2nd attempt

    16735381-L.jpg

I used a masked levels layer to lift the exposure slightly on the eyes,
spent more time playing with the channel mixer and ended up with the following settings red -16 green +98 blue +82
added some grain on ann overlay neutral gray layer

I agree that the face and background are much better in the second version. I don't like what it did to the hair and the back of his hand. You can layer the new version on top of the old one and mask out some of this (perhaps with < 100% opacity.)

    Did you shoot in RAW?

I would adjust the exposure so her face isn't in the shadow so much from the back lighting. Nice candid shot though.
