  turn external links on for the gallery in question.
  
  sandwich the filename inbetween tags.

  I must be doing something stupid! I type in this,
  [img][/img]http://bodley.smugmug.com/photos/16882520-S-2.jpg
  No luck. So I copied in this from GREAPER and removed the "*"
  [*img]http://bodley.smugmug.com/photos/16882520-S-2.jpg[*/img]
  and it worked. When the "*" are removed it looks just like what I typed in to start with. So I took the one that worked from GREAPER and typed in the It must be the bracket I am using - I'm using the unshifted keys just right of my P key. Is this correct?

  When I entered my url into your example (with removed *) I would get "[img][/img]http://bodley.smugmug.com/photos/16882520-S-2.jpg" displayed and when you clicked in the

  Now it's working - thanks all worked when I re-typed the whole thing instead of cut and paste
