    As a shot for texture I like it, but it's not woody/grainy looking enough.
    The bark doesn't have a great lot of fine detail in it.

    You could easily say it's a rock formation if you know what I mean?

    It's a good shot, what does the colour version look like?

    For a rock it would have to be petrified wood for that knot to be there. Come on Ms CSI!

    Thanks for the comments.

    Skippy, I understand what you mean about it not looking woody enough or looking similar to stone. I felt is was so rough yet non descript, almost abstract, so I labelled it oak so everyone would know what it is. The color version was fairly lack-luster, but the B&W allowed me to bump the contrast to what you see here.
