Re: Lens questions
I don't know what the specs on that lens are but the thing that gives a lens macro possibilities is a short minimum focusing distance. I have the Sigma 150mm it has a minimum focusing distance of 38mm, where as their 300mm telephoto has a minimum focusing distance of 200mm. Even if you double the 150 and double it's focal… -
Re: Rust
Okay... here's what I did... Brightness -78 Contrast +76 Red +70 Blue +64 Am I on the right track? Why is it that I like the blues to be a little brighter... is that taboo? Please guide me... I'm lost! Oh, after I did this one, I played with upping the clarity and luminance... is that a no-no or do you want me to post that… -
Re: External Statistics (StatCounter, etc) with SmugMug Beta RC1
I pasted the statcounter footer code from regular site into the beta footer. Beta page opens ok and I can switch to gallery, homepage and categories. In gallery navigating to another photo on the page hangs with "Transferring data from c8.stat ...." shown in bottom left with blank page. Statcounter is picking this… -

A co-worker has join dgin, I think he will also try and particiapte in these challenges. He made this shot for inside-out but decided not to post it because it was inspired by my inside-out bottle He used a plastic bottle (a lot cheaper than to have 3x bottles cut !!) and managed to pour wine from underneath the Camera. Sad Loss
These Whooping Cranes made a long and arduous trip - 76 days (22 Flight Days) 1,234 miles arriving at their destination in Florida on January 9th. I was fortunate to have been able to be at the Dunnellon airport to witness their flyby. The entire 2006 migrating flock was lost on February 2nd during a tornado that struck… -
Re: canon 1ds mark II
When I first stated shooting with a 10D, I was so impressed that it's images were vastly superior to most 35mm film images - particularly 35mm negative film. I have posted B&W images I shot on Tri-X and souped in D-76 myself, and the grain and accutance in them does not begin to compare to a 20D. Not even close. Kodachrome… -
Re: Europe in 1964
My niece (the one in the photos) was born in Germany in 1963 when her dad was stationed there. My children were born in 1961, 1963, 1968 and 1971 so I could be about your mother's age - I turned 76 last week. I have a bunch of the albums linked up so that you can follow from one to the other, including some my dad took… -
Metz 76 or QFlash 5
Well here I am again. I just can't seem to make myself happy with the flash(es) that I've tried with my digital SLR (20d & 30d). My problem is that I come from the old skool film SLR and I used my trust worthy side mount Sunpak 544. I loved the flash and it created perfect images (and the camera helped too). Since I've…
