Re: A One Way Trip Of Indefinite Duration
Well once again I have to apologize for the lack of photos! But in response to a request from Cuong, here's a shot of the place we've been staying here. A couple other divemaster trainees rented a whole house, and offered the bottom half to us for 3000 baht per month, or 95 dollars. It's the biggest place we've ever… -
Re: My favorite eagle
Thanks Terry. January is a fine time to shoot on the Space Coast. There are three prime locations: the Viera Wetlands off of exit 191 of 95, the Orlanod Wetlands of exit 215 and Merritt Island NMR of exit 220. Viera is a an unspectacular location that just provieds a steady stream of photo ops. The cast of characters… -
Re: Editing/saving file after using CS3 to merge Pano
For my panos, I flatten the image immediately after it comes into Photoshop from the Merge command IF, and only IF, I am satisfied with the seamless merging of the images, and the evenness of the tonalities from frame to frame. Since I shoot 95% of my panos from a tripod with a pano bracket, or with a T&S lens, the frames… -
Re: Can Non-photographers Really Understand the Quality of a Photo?
I totally agree. Sometimes we (photographers) forget to consider the feel of the photo. When given a selection of near equal quality, people choose based on a look over the small details. A shadow in the wrong spot, a little over/under exposed here and there, the wrong composition doesn't factor in. They simply like the… -
Re: Photoshop vs ?
Gimp seems to be a pretty powerful tool. I've played around with it a bit, it looks like it can handle most any basic photo finishing task. I'm not terribly familiar with it though because the layout is completely different to what I'm used to and since I already have other tools at my disposal there wasn't much point in… -
Re: New quad core AMD Phenom 2 X4 and CS3 Problems
Yep, read all of that a couple of days ago when researching my issue with running CS3 Extended on Win 7...not the creative suite. I posted the same over in the wedding forum...so far, no one has answered or commented that they have had success using CS3 under Win 7. It may be an issue with CS3 Extended and not with the CS3… -
Re: How To Photograph Artwork
As long as the cam has a timer then I don't think a cable release matters. I have Nikon's infarred remote for my D90 but find that I use the timer fully 95% of the, well, time. :D Good lighting suggestions although I find that lately I'm using more and more natural daylight from my north facing skylight. Again, for me the… -
Re: Nikon Lens for Bokeh?
High speed sync/ Auto FP will allow for shutter speeds of up to 1/8000 with nikon. Not sure where the long shutter comes in with that. I use it all the time for moto trials outdoors at f2.8-f4. I can get shutter speeds up over 1/2000 and still use a flash, this gives nice fill in under helmets and dark areas. It also gives… -
Re: Q: Tamron 70-300 1:4-5.6 LD
Nik, I have the very similar Tamron 75-300. If I understand the story correctly, the 70-300 is simply a "tweaked" 75-300, providing two benefits: 1) A better macro mode with an actual macro "switch" that moves elements internally to provide much closer focussing and a better macro ratio of 1:2 (versus 1:3.9 on the lens I… -
Re: Help!
Looks pretty bad Sandy. Needs to be cleaned fer sure!! There have been numerous articles on the Luminous Landscape by Michael Reichman about the various cleaning methods including the Sensor Swabs, the Sensor Brush, and lately the Arctic Butterfly. I use the Rocket Blower, then the Sensor Brush, and finally the Sensor Swab…
