One of my typical days.
My typical shooting day goes like this: The night before, I charge all of my batteries. (all 417 of them :D ) I then put on my camo jammies and promptly jump into bed to sleep at 6:30pm and have dreams of capturing some awesome images. My alarm goes off at 3:18am which causes me to spring out of bed and immediately bang my… -

Re: Dss #31 Unofficial Feedback Thread - Open or Closed
The story behind the sunflower... I didn't even know about the theme for this challenge when I took my sunflower shot. I was just riding around out in the hills and valleys of Northwest Georgia looking for whatever may catch my eye. I just happen to come around the bend and, Oh look! sunflowers!! So I turned around and saw… -
Re: How do I make effective image selections? (eg- to replace background)
Gary, I do not take offense at your response to my post. I spent some time considering it before I posted it. I was quite sensitive to the fact that my post did not directly answer your question regarding how to use PSE 5 to do a selection, but instead gently suggested do a better job at the time of shooting. Probably good… -
Re: Dell has released two new IPS monitors
Yes, this was about 3 or 4 years ago. Dell & HP were both caught but way more mud was thrown at Dell and less so at HP. Both companies had a 20" 4:3 monitor (the 2007FP and LP2065) that came to market with a similar S-IPS panel. Later production units of the Dell were supplied with S-PVA panels and HP subbed A-MVA panels.… -
Re: Help! Lulu calendar disaster
CMYK versus RGB As a graphic designer I must tell all of you there is a huge difference in how you handle your files in Photoshop. First convert to CMYK immediately. It's usually backwards from what designers or pre-press people will recommend, but certain colors do not convert well from RGB to CMYK, and why be… -
Re: New Features, June 21st 2008
I am a current Configuration Manager for a major Internet application. My customers would have my head if we did not provide accurate release notes at least a month in advance of a release, and if we did not provide a user acceptance test period for at least two weeks in advance of a release. Final release notes are… -
Re: D300 Setting Questions...what did I do wrong?
Wow! What a really timely thread. I was just hopping into this forum to post this exact question since I've had the same difficulty with my D300 (although I have Active-D off) and have been finding myself having to do a lot of post processing in Lightroom. I'd like to find ways to make that stop as well. I keep comparing… -
Re: Warning - Sports related Rant -
I say go for it. I suspect though that you might find a good number of potential clients that would rather pay more for a full time, licensed/accredited plumber/carpenter/accountant rather than pay less to a guy who happens to have used those skills in the past. (Nothing at all against you - if I were looking for someone… -
Re: New and looking for purchase advise.
With a $500 budget, I strongly suggest waiting until you have around $800-$1000USD before purchasing, just because your options increase rather dramatically. Spend more of the budget for a couple of decent lenses, instead of the "kit" lenses. Kit lenses are cheap because they are cheaply made and compromise the system to a…
