Re: Shopping for First DSLR
Ok call me #3 on this bandwagon. Olympus For your price range you will get more camera for your money. Their kit lens is equivalent to 28-84, and a 80-300 is only 100 dollars more. (14-42, 15-150, there is a 2x "crop factor") Also the "cheap" Olympus lenses are higher quality than Nikon's...and you get built in… -

Re: SE: 100 days. 100 builds.
Great work Nik! That's so cool to be involved in the development of such a useful app from the start on. Just wondering why I only got 16 releases, where are my 84 missing ones? I never understood the way of numbering app versions. :D Currently have an upload and after that we'll see if you really got that nastly little… -
Re: D2H Settings
Also, I don't know what metering mode you are using, but I get best results with the matrix metering. You might know all about this already, but if not it's explained on page 84 (or 85?) in the manual. I use this in apature prority mode and usually get pretty good images straight from my camera - they just need a little… -
DSS 84 - Grateful
Knowing we were in the "cone of uncertainty" for a hit by Hurricane Irene, as soon as I read this challenge I knew I had to wait and see if it hit us and if made it through without any damage. Has been an amazing day, and, for the most part, the island has escaped any serious damage. A few trees here and there. A stinging… -
Re: Nikon Body Question - D80 or D300
I poked around their web site, and something that is sorely lacking from it is who does their accreditation, if it's there, it's hidden really well. Do they run a lot of TV ads to draw students? For $84-85k, if this is the kind of school I think it is, I really hope they have good accreditation that should you decide to… -

Re: Live everyday like it is your last!
ginger, i can so understand what you mean. i turn 60 this year, and have been having knee probs and pain, and it gets to you when you still feel like you did mentally years ago. on the other hand, my mom is 84 and has her share of ups and downs, yet still has a vibrant mind, has learned more about her computer in the past… -
Re: Need help with camera settings and Smugmug Homepage
I'm sorry if you felt my post was "mean", but I was trying to help. The features you asked about are in the manual. For example, the face detect information is on pages 21,62,82, and 86. If you don't understand the explanations, ask about what you specifically don't understand. Servo AF is explained on page 84. Panning is…
