Re: Question about my job...
How close did you read your contract or employment agreement that you signe prior to going to work there.....reason I am asking is this towards the bottom of all the bindings and job descriptions was there any kind of verbage to the sentiment of................PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED......this used to be a joke… -
Re: SF4 Behind the Scenes
Hanging the Moon Hi all, Quite often I'll have a rough idea for an image, get the elements together and then play with several variations and see how things develop (sometimes with quite unexpected results). With "Hanging the Moon", it was a different story. I had that phrase pop in my head one day, for no particular… -
Re: >>> 2.1 (Moving Forward): Critique/Discussion Thread
I felt a little hurt that my work was described as "snap shot quality". Maybe it was because I have been put through the ringer this month with my family. Maybe I am feeling a little more sensitive than usual after finding out I am pregnant again! With child number 9! My 16 yr old daughters prom. My 19 yr old daughter… -
Re: No sales?....same here.
Very, very true! And ironically, you may have to do this for MONTHS or even YEARS before some folks make a purchase-- even if it's a photo they want. For example, I shoot a lot of local fashion shows. Initially, I thought the clothing designers would be my target audience-- but I quickly learned the folks who actually buy… -
Re: Slideshows picture quality and captions
Picture quality Hi Andy and all, thank you very much for your quick and valuable input! After spending some more minutes comparing my sample galleries on smugmug and zenfolio, I unfortunately also noticed a significant difference in quality: Even with your L image size, there are obvious JPEG compression artifacts with… -
Re: Get ready to sell stock photos
If you have stock worthy shots and you're waiting, then you are wasting money. I started at istock 9-07, with only thiry files uploaded as of now, only 15 of which are getting DL'd with any regularity I broke $800 today. Took my first dissbursement recently and used it to get my wife and I new iPhones. They are sooo cool.… -
Re: MyCanvas books and collages
I think most of my problems was due to the maintenance, but I think it's something that needs to be noted. At first, I thought everything was locally cached, but it seems that mostly everything is being grabbed from publicwebservices.mycanvas.com (thumbnails, sliders images, main pages, background, frames, etc.). The… -
Re: Self-Portrait for Promo Purposes
This is not my writing, but here is an entry from the chromogenic.net photoblog below on how he got a narrow depth of field sharp focus on his eye in a self portrait. Cheers, Trish Shoot Yourself 5:19 PM / 18 May 2005 I meant to post this along with the self-portraits from a few days ago, but it slipped my mind. Anyway, if… -
Re: Anyone else angry about the 7D?
I know very little about video. But from what I understand about it, 24 frames/second in HD is the standard. For Canon to not have that as one of the recording options was just foolish. I'm sure that they didn't want the still cameras competing with their video cameras, but come on, this was just a blatant attempt to hold… -
Re: Canon XSi
Ok, lets consider these: Faster shutter speed: Faster shutter speed is going to be difficult: even the latest Rebel, the T6s/750D has the same shutter speed range as your Xsi (1/30-1/4000). The Canon 7D goes to 1/8000, if that is truly important to you. I find fast lenses (ie f/2.8 or faster) are a bigger impact than top…
