Re: External hard drive connected to camera?
Thanks so much... I always shoot RAW.... I'll definitely take a look at the 4gb and 8gb cards - that would make things easy. I won't be able to download at night - I will be staying at friends' homes and won't have any means to do that - until Sunday night when I get back to my home. I tend to take about 100-150 photos per… -
Re: Minimum photo gear for motorcycle vacation?
In order to facilitate the added size and weight of my D700 as my road trip camera verus the comparative "compact" size of one of my old D70 bodies as a road trip body, I am going pro in focal length but amateur in speed, construction and weight to facilitate the full frame camera body. The D700 ability to provide… -
Re: Nikon user contemplating switch to Canon 7D
Well as I said, I am not heavily vested in Nikon just yet and that is why I was even considering such a move. It is time for me to upgrade from my D70s and thus this post. I think the "lack" of an upgrade on D300s has got me more pissed off than anything. I have been waiting to upgrade my D70s for a year now thinking the… -
Re: Fill Flash Help.
Bah Humbug! I have heard this type of thing before. Forgive me, but I usually like to question the hyper-safety recommendations I hear so I did a search and found the following: I'm camera crazy. Should I worry about the flash hurting my new baby's eyes? June 16, 2002 By: Stephen J. Krebs, M.D. Carlisle Pediatric… -
Re: Now Here's a rookie question!
Never use GIG or PNG as a format for saving pics...both are for web graphics....always use tiff(tif), jpg (jpeg), or what ever your software has to offer....using PSP if you can save your file as a tiff so that when you reopen it it does not degrade ...then that would be my choice...even tho it eats up disk space… -
Re: Lesson Learned??
Sid, Bears are dangerous creatures, Black Bears though are probably the least dangerous of the bunch, they ALMOST never attack humans. And personally, I have never heard of an attack on a human where the bear wasn't provoked or backed into a corner. Very seldom will a black bear even attack in defence of cubs. I agree it… -
Re: Margulis "Professional Photoshop, Fifth Edition"
My book arrived from Barnes and Noble today. The book that I paid 33.00 for since I am a member, smile. I can report that the cover looks great. Well, actually, it looks OK. Five photos and some type. Something for everyone that way. I was working up a daily photo so I went to try to devise a recipe for Hiraloam… -
Re: How do you slow down your shutter finger?
Photomechanic will help in your process. I can take upwards of over 600 shots sometimes. I use PM to sort out the best pics and the so-so pics. It gets narrowed down to about 100-150. I download those to the HD. I then use DXO to make a basic edit of the pictures in batch. Basic is horizon adjustment, crops, exposure etc.… -
Re: Real Estate Photography - a new twist?
My 2 cents Interesting topic. I'm a pro photgrapher in Atlanta where the real estae market is big. One of my first job was (and still is) about real estate. When I was starting my business I partnered with some real estate agents to take pictures of their listings. I charge $150 to do one house that usually sell in the… -
Re: Basketball Upgrade
You could probably keep whatever camera you currently have, just invest in lighting. Seriously. No disrespect for those that don't use it or those that shoot with on camera flash (assuming that on camera is allowed by your local officials, where some parts on the baseline it's STRICTLY forbidden..) But for around $250, you…
