Need Advice on New Body & Lens - Nikon
I am following the discussions about the Nikon D300s, as I have thought about purchasing one. I could stretch for the D700 if I really "had" to. One consideration is whether my existing lenses will be useful for a new body and which one; I don't want to replace everything. I shoot mainly landscapes and nature/pets. I… -
FS: Various Items
End of year closet cleaning and have made a list of items I would like to sell. All of the items are in very good condition and bought and owned by me. When I buy something I generally put the box and paperwork in the attic along with cables, etc. I should have "most" of the original content for each item I am selling, but… -
Re: AMA Superbike @ Infineon
Thanks AdrianK and CookieS. CookieS, As I said in the beginning, I had not been to this track in a while, so most of Saturday was just experimentation. I reviewed them that night in hopes of a little more success rate on Sunday. The "Show off" shot was shot in shutter priority at 1/800 and f7.1 at ISO 200. Here are a few… -
Re: Unconventional Duck Shots
What I meant by "normal", is... Look in the "Wildlife" forum. Re: Need some help shopping!
The quality of a lens can vary over its range of zoom, and through its aperture settings. Pretty much all lenses function best at f8-f11, and zoom lenses look crispest at the middle of their zoom range. I am currently using the following lenses (on my 20d): 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 35-135mm USM f4-5.6 50mm f1.8 The first two are… -
Re: Choose your focus point *after* the shot
I agree, wedding photography is the one last frontier where I am absolutely floored by a great body of work and absolutely bored by everything else. It seems that with nature photography, everything "has been done already" and if one tries to claim traditional, postcard-perfect as their style, they get scoffed at for being… -
Re: Last night's B-Ball-trying something new
Thanks Ann :D As I wrote, I'm getting more safisfied with my results the more games I shoot. The good thing about a long season is that it gives you the chance to sort of experiment and then fine tune. I think this was the 7th or 8th game I shot with this combo (20D + 85mm F1.8) and I'm finally comfortable. I've always… -
Re: Austin-San Antonio Christmas Meetup
How about this for discussion? Too much? Too little? The San Antonio crowd is only about 75 minutes from home as I35 is fairly close to where we'll be. Rough outline: Sunday, December 27th 2:00pm-5:45pm, gather, shoot Capital, 6th St, head to SoCo 5:45pm-7:00pm, dinner at Guero's Taco Bar on SoCo 7:00pm-???, SoCo shooting,… -
Re: Help in choosing camera and lenses.
Thanks. so you guys answered my queries on the Body atleast till this "D80" is released. Now I have 2 choose the lenses. I know can't afford the IS/VR lenses atleast not the 70-200 versions. I am looking for 2 zooms to cover 24-300mm (35mm equivaltent) and a fast-prime (mostly a 50/1.4 or 35/2 or 28/1.8) for low light…
