Re: Girls gymnastics
Thanks Cuong, that's what I'm looking for is people shooting gymnastics who can say: "I use this set up, at these settings, and here's what I'm getting." Couldn't see all of your albums because they are password protected. I'm in San Luis Obispo, so I don't know who hosted those southern CA meets. I'd like to see more of… -
Re: Yosemite, Reluctantly
OK, so on Saturday mroning we rolled out with the Muench-king. After flapping feebly at the Tunnel View, I followed him to a meadow that faced Yosemite Falls (I think.) So here's where I started to get a headache and realized how little I knew about shooting landscapes. Mark picks a spot and sets up his camera, everyone… -
Re: Recommendations for upgrading to a better camera?
I saw lots of debate between these two models on Amazon.com when I was looking at them...same thing on cnet.com... There is a bit of a tug towards the G6 though when comparing things currently... anyhoo, here's the differences I'm noticing when comparing the two on CNET's specs pages: G6 costs a tad less, and is only .1… -
Re: Photos Slow to Load
TEST 1: ** Please note 2 of these tests would simply not finish. One got stuck on 18% and the other on 9%. It seems that the kbps keeps going down and down to about 60 and then keeps trickling down. I'm going to let one of these tests keep running but im not sure if it will ever finish. This is similar to what I experience… -
Re: PDN regarding "Dad's with Camera"
First let me say I agree - pros need to deal with the fact parents have better and better equipment. But since you mentioned these facts, David, let me ask some questions if I may? * You shoot mostly 1 school and 1 studio - do you have a student in each? * If you add up the time you spend at all events photographing and… -
Re: Just a few pics...
late to this thread andysson, you're lucky to have had even one car by your very young age, used or not. When I was a teenager, we had to steal car parts at 3am from the dumpsters behind auto parts stores and foreign car dealers. Most of the parts were rusty or defective. Yet, we managed to cobble together working albeit… -
Re: Value of my photographs
Hi- Learned a lot last year about selling photgraphs. 1. I took a panoramic of the flooding in Annapolis MD after Hurricane Isabel. I hung it in a coffee shop, put a price tag of $45 on it It flew off the shelves, so I immediatley raised the price to $70. Why $70? Because it's what i would pay for it. Well, that price… -
Re: Santa Clarita Valley Tea Party
Thanks Bruce. My approach was to shoot it like I do weddings... extreme focal lengths. I had two bodies, one with the 70-200mm and one with the 16-35. That way, I could either shoot candidly from a distance with the long lens and get right in there up close and personal and shoot from the waist and other off angles with… -
Re: New Nikon Info Finally Released
Bjørn Roslett impressions of the D3 and D300 are here. In case you don't wnat to go through the thread he said: "Shot another D3 today with the AFS 600/4 VR and 24-80/2.8 AFS. Both were production level items and both delivered astonishing results on the D3. The 600 focused swiftly even in dim llight. I did a series up to… -
