Welcome To Mini-Challenge #165: Textures, Patterns, and Abstracts
Welcome to Mini-Challenge #165! The theme of this challenge will be Textures, Patterns, and Abstracts. There can obviously be a lot of overlap between the three. In fact, it's quite possible to present a single image that is a texture, a pattern, as well as an abstract. Those type of images will be happily accepted.… -
Congratulations to richtersl for the DSS #38 (Oops!) Winning Photo
What a tough round! You guys didn't make it any easier on your wonderful judges, Angela Davis and I, but we somehow managed to agree on seven photos, giving you a lucky thirteen to choose from. :clap The poll will be open for the next 72 hours, so let your favorite be known! Any previously registered member of DGrin may… -
Re: first post
One way to correct it... First of all, you should make sure you read smugmug's advice on color correction as it's quite helpful. There are a lot of different approaches here. Here's how I look at this photo. First, i wondered if maybe the girl's shirt should be a neutral white. When you look at it in pure RGB, you see… -

DSS 41 first challenge C&C?
Hi, I'm new here, got my D5000 for Christmas. I'm not set up very well for the kinds of shots I've seen so far (I had the idea of the "first date" too, maybe like going to work in the morning, or pairs of slippers on the white lambswool rug, or something similar). What I ended up shooting was an "as-is" arrangement of the… -
Re: Seeking Comments & Criticism
First - as has been said, I think you have every right to be quite happy and proud of these photos. I KNOW the B&G will be quite pleased. A general comment - watch your composition. There are a large number of "bulls-eyed" shots in these sets. Here's a blow-by-blow:* Beautiful exposure and good focus. Probably have way too… -
Re: Bulk Edit EXIF
The exif tool from libexif is capable of setting values, however it does seem to also dork with some other stuff, so it's not a clean "just change these bytes and no others" opperation. Namely on my images it mucks around with the Maker Note and User Comment portions. That at least works on my jpgs, it isn't capable of… -
>>> LPS#5 Feedback Thread
Mr Peas provided some feedback: 50 - photog01 - 350z (Love cars, Love the 350z, Love the lines shown here, They’re sharp and enticing.) 87 - jimgoldstein - End of the Day (I particularly like the bird with its wings up. The gold in the bg is just cherry. On top of that the horizon fades nicely in the back and gives it a… -
Re: >>> DSS Challenge #5 (Primary or Pastel): Feedback Thread
Page 6.... 51 - cheech4487 - love on the side - Another flower, and this is one of the strong entries. Very little to crticize, nice composition and technical execution. There are two others I think I like better, but it is so hard, a number of strong flower entries. Good job. 52 - Tentacion - Fierce - My is that some red… -
Re: Nighthawks 2020
@Stumblebum Taz, I've been giving a lot of though to your above question. I'm sorry to hear that so much misinformation gets spread, but one can certainly understand the need to try to comprehend the situation and wanting to put a pat and easy answer on things. FWIW here's my perspective - as one who reads/watches the…
