Hobbyist Photographer Ethical Dilemma
There is a local girl’s hockey tournament is going on this weekend with kids from the US and Canada; some daughters of my friend were playing and I thought that I could finally get some shots of them. At this tourney, there is professional video company who records all the games and sells the dvds. There is also a… -
A Mixbag of 20D images......
Hi all this could have also gone into the Urban/Architecture folder, but here goes... Last night I went to London. I go to London a lot & usually shoot things such as this: But a different camera inspired me to take a different approach from my usual routine. Previously I was armed with the Sony DSC-F717 pro-sumer camera,… -
Three bugs from today...
This ladybird was found walking across the flagstone around the pond edge and rescued to the apple tree. Here she is sat on the end of a twig where the bud is ready to spring forth from soon, and I got a nice peep from her before flying off... Climbing Triglav, Slovenian highest mountain
I took a day off in late July to get some fresh mountain air and stretch my legs. And my legs got stretched alright! :ivar Ever since my teenage years I've wanted to climb Triglav, the highest Slovenian mountain, via the Plemenice route. It's supposed to be one of the most demanding, precipitous and beautiful climbing… -

Re: Getting the word out with sports photography.....
I think Moma and jong pretty much nailed whats wrong with this business today. Luckily i'm in Oz and don't have the competition that exists in the states and I still get people that have never seen anyone doing onsite viewing and printing before so the novelty factor exists which is a HUGE advantage. I agree with Jon… -
Mini Challenge # 306: My home town
This mini will feature "My home town". We've recently had "vacation" and "revisit" so I thought it would be a good idea to stay a little closer to home and show us something of the surroundings where you live. It can be architecture, land/cityscape, a specific local festivity or anything else prominent in the area. Just… -
Local Shooting, lets keep the officers in our prayers
Before I post the story, I will say that this is my old crew. As many of you know or don't know, I was on the S.E.R.T team (SWAT) I spent many hours with these guys, training, etc. All of these guys I would have taken a bullet for. Now 3 of them were put in a position where they had to kill someone. We use to eat at this… -
Digitizing Slides with a DSLR
I'd like to share the results of my initial trial of using a DSLR and slide copy attachment for digitizing 35mm slides. Why am I using a DSLR to copy slides, you might ask? Why wouldn't I invest a few hundred dollars into a good quality film scanner? The reason is that I want to scan my family's slide collection which… -
Little 'uns soccer - C&C requested
OK, so I spent 7 hours shooting soccer (U6 and U7) on Saturday. (Background follows, so if you don't want to read it, just skip to the pictures below!) Background: My city has a rec soccer league, U6 through U14, plus a rec league for high-school-aged girls. It supports not only my city of 35,000 but several surrounding…
