Re: Canon Telephoto Choice
What are you shooting with those lenses. My birds went away from my fav spot. I need to practice with the 300 L f4 is, and I can't get excited.......about more pelicans, etc. We just got our sun back, along with colder weather. Everything I need to shoot in the next week, I could be using my "new" 17-40 L lens (emotions, a… -
Re: Option to disable the iphone 'backdoor'?
This is precisely what I mean. I shoot events (usually kid stuff) and have 20-40 galleries per event stored in a category -> subcategory "location". If I make them all unlisted then I have to: 1. Provide links to each (very unfriendly and essentially "broken" navigation) 2. Create a sharegroup (not so bad, and a vanity url… -
Re: Flight of the pelican
Thanks for looking and the kind words, folks. It is always appreciated. Ginger, No worries on the comments/criticism. It's part of the territory. If you show off your plum feathers all the time. ........sooner or later someone is going to want to pluck, pull or yank them. Sometimes folks want to set them on fire... I… -
Re: Clingman's Dome Sunrise
Shaman, I should have also mentioned that I tried the same shot about two hours earlier and the sun caused a hot spot in the upper portioned of the framed shot which I knew would blow out when I went with the long exposure to get the flow of the water (which they did when I did a couple of test exposures). I specifically… -
Re: 37 - more gobstoppers
I'm not using the lamp in that picture, I was using the large light emitting light thing that is on in that picture of my dorm. I can use the lamp though, if the bulb is still working, don't recall if I ever replaced it as that little lamp isn't used very often... Yes I am in a dorm, I'm a college chick. Hence the low… -
Re: Camera bag strategy?
I have a Crumpler 7MDH that holds all but one of my lenses, so usually I pick which ever lens I don't think I'll need and it stays home. I have a Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS MKI, 17-40 f/4L, 24-70 f/2.8L, 15 f/2.8 Fish, and 85 f/1.8. Usually it's between the 24-70, 15, and 85. The bag also comfortably holds a 580EX II, my… -
Re: Ebay Buyers Beware: Sony Memory Stick PRO-DUO Fake!
I contacted Sony, they advised me to take the card to a Sony Authorized Dealer in town and the closest one is at a Sony store in the Mirage and Frys farther down the strip. I'll try going to the Sony store since they will probably have better knowledge. However, I did notice another difference. The legitimate cards have a… -
Re: Anyone purchase a camera from Abe's of Maine?
I tried Abes once and that was enough for me to never look there again. I attempted to purchase a 70-200 2.8L IS. Put it in my cart checked out etc. Next day I get a call to sell me more stuff that I didnt want. After refusing the price listed was now a typo on the website but they would sell me a refurb for the listed… -
Re: Canon 600 mm rental - will a newbie be able to use it the first day?
As an owner of several pieces of long glass from 300 to a Sigmonster, I will tell you that 600mm is not the place for someone to start shooting long glass. I agree with Ziggy that 400mm is a better place to start. A 600mm lens is very heavy, requires a large gimbalhead and a heavy tripod to use properly. With camera body,… -
Re: Now Here's a rookie question!
Never use GIG or PNG as a format for saving pics...both are for web graphics....always use tiff(tif), jpg (jpeg), or what ever your software has to offer....using PSP if you can save your file as a tiff so that when you reopen it it does not degrade ...then that would be my choice...even tho it eats up disk space…
