Re: Akamai coming to custom hostnames
Well, domain hosts offer what services they want to offer. Most current DNS providers don't have any technical experience with DNS protocols or history. A good test is to ask them when they started offering DNS services. Over 95% will have started in 1999 or much later. We've been offering DNS services since early 1996… -
Re: New Speedlight - Getting Started
I shoot manual about 95% of the time. Av works well outdoors where Av will turn the flash into a fill light. But, manual is the way to go when you know what the light is doing. When shooting in manual mode you control all apects of the exposure, including the ISO. If you remember the camera's various programmed modes are… -
Re: Photo sizes in Europe-- how do they correspond w/ U.S. standards?
95% of the time, I do that (keep in original aspect), however, it just doesn't always work. There are photos I'll leave in a gallery even if in an odd size, because it might be one I'm figuring people wanna see but are unlikely to buy/ print commercially. Also, I've used 4 different digital cameras, 3 of which were 4:3 and… -
Re: Hot Rod Show... Vrooooom !!
Well, Tom, considering your encyclopedic knowledge, photographic skill, and experience with all things Automotive, Cars, and Shows, I feel pretty good knowing you think I done a little good! Re: Headshot- Critique Needed
OK... so I do see your point about this last shot being more "Character" than theatrical. So that begs the question, what makes a theatrical shot, theatrical? I also wanted to point out something that I noticed while checking out work of local head shot photographers, even the more well known ones. A lot of rules of… -

Super ideas from all three of you. To address a few… -
Re: Pro Account increase
I have read a bunch of this - here & elsewhere. I do not get how this is a "huge" increase for the services SM provides. Unlimited bandwidth, unlimited uploads, unlimited galleries, FULL HD streaming w/ full IOS capability, flawless embedding, and they can handle volume views. My clients download 52"x78" images from the… -
Re: Recent wedding images
Oh, trust me, 95% of my group shots were outdoors and they turned out great... but as we did have some sprinkling rain throughout the day and there was a large room available to me aaaannd I had just received all my green screen material... I figured, what the hell, the bride/groom are willing and I will try it out to see… -
Re: Dew Shield- just a cozy?
I agree that you should not use a chemical heater/hand warmer*. If you must do this, use an electrical heater. To be ideal, you just need enough heat to prevent the "localized" humidity from reaching 95%, or so. There are commercial products that can be adapted for this purpose. A heat band used for preventing the same… -
It is HOT when.........
Sorry to interrupt with a joke list, of all the bad things I usually get. But this one was new to me, I enjoyed it and thought I would share! Now.........I won't do this again for a long time, sorry again, enjoy, we should enjoy our cool spell as temps go the low 90s, many thunderstorms, ruining outdoor weekend plans (hope…
