HS Volleyball, no flash
There have been a few recent threads discussing techniques of shooting volleyball (and gymnastics and basketball). I will add to this discussion here by discussing and posting photos from my first HS match last week. The gym just replaced the huge globes (mercury vapor?) with units that carry four or five fluorescent tubes… -

Re: Canon 50D focus issue
If you really want superior indoor performance I suggest a constant aperture zoom of f2.8 or a prime lens with f2 or larger aperture. The Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4.5 DC IF is a very nice outdoor zoom, but your camera has an AF point specifically designed for faster performance and more accuracy at f2.8. The zooms that I… -
Mini Challenge #139 — Sunrise Sunset RESULTS
Hi Folks! Had to sleep on this one. I don't know what I was thinking when I picked Sunrise Sunset as the theme. There were so many incredible images submitted! It would not be a hard argument to make that each and every one of you deserves an Honorable Mention. Sooooo, I went through them last night and narrowed it down to… -
Re: wireless flash trigger

In a multi-frame burst, the camera will sometimes shoot three to five frames… -

Re: Andy/Baldy - feed me
How much protein do we really need? There seems to be a fair amount of confusion around how much protein we really need. If you dash around the web on Google, you can find very wide ranging estimates. In Eat to Live (page 139 if you're interested in reading it for yourself), Fuhrman says that 0.8gm/kg of body weight is… -
Re: Bias against Nikon?
There was a public perception that the Canon 1D MKIII autofocus was seriously flawed, but the reality is that the AF problems were mostly limited to a range of serial numbers, not the entire production line, and the problems were situational in nature. Indeed many professionals used, and use, the Canon 1D MKIII for…
