Re: Do what you have to....
I don't know how... ...but somehow I have survived just fine--so far--without any "L" glass: Canon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6, Canon 28mm f/1.8, Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8, and Canon 50mm f/1.4. I don't even find myself wishing for a 24-70 f/2.8L. However, I'm not yet very well covered on the wide or tele ends. On the wide end, there… -
Re: need help/advice quickly...
Well, to be honest, a huge obstacle is going to be focal length. In my experience, if yo want to crop the action tight, a 200mm lens on a 1.5x or 1.6x crop camera gives you about 30 yards of realistic range, 300mm gives you about 45 and 400mm gives you about 60. Beyond that, images usually aren't sharp enough to crop… -
Re: Spend my money for me?
I DO Ginger!! We are actually in a fairly similar situation. I am deaf in the left ear and have a profound loss in the right. I wear an aid in the right ear which gives me volume but NOT the subtle little differences that make it words instead of noise. I need lip reading for that and some are so easy to read that they say… -
Re: High School Talent show shots
Well, As for how to get close, I shot with a member here Seefutlung, to help him out and this was a practice session. So they don't mind if we walk around the stage a bit. Initially, I was at the front or side of the stage but slowly got closer through out the show. That way the kids get used to me vs. just jumping in… -
Re: Bag is too big for the overhead bin in a plane! What to do?
I travel way too much for work and have been traveling with camera equipment in various configurations. I have found a few things to be aware of, in no particular order:* For regional Canadair Jets the underseat is larger than the overhead bin * Paying (or qualifying through loyalty program) for the "Extra Legroom" or Exit… -
Re: D600 Review
THAT'S not sexist at all! :-P Hey, I'm a manly man and I like my lightweight cameras too ya know! I use them for backpacking 10 miles in a day, and other stuff like that where you feel EVERY ounce on your shoulders and hips for 12 hours a day. I also have been testing a D600, and my initial reaction is something completely… -
Re: Zeiss Distagon T* 21mm F/2.8 ZE (Canon EF)
Sure I can do that. In fact I just did after reading this. I guess the neighbors thought I was nuts running out and popping my flash off 18 times per image for 6 images at 2am here but I'm sure the rumors are already worse than the reality. Or wait, maybe that's the other way around? :D First you have to know that I shoot… -
Re: D600
32,000 images is six weddings, (A few of them being 12+ hour Indian ceremonies) ...plus 4-6 smaller sessions througout the week. (Sangeet / Mehndi ceremonies, engagements) There are 4-5 lead photographers, some shooting double-headers Sat-Sun. There are 5-6 second and third shooters. Lead photographers shoot 2-3+K images,… -
Re: Event Photography Rates
.49C for a 6x4?? Why don't you just give them away and be done with it? Hardly seems like charging for in the first place or worth your effort walking out the door. At these prices you are just bastardising and undermining the profitability and credibility of the industry. If your worried your new to the game and can't… -
