Re: A few more from the WWBC in Jupiter,FL
Most of those scouts were there to watch the opposing pitcher as he threw up to 89 mph. So my son got the spin-off effect of being seen as well. He has received several calls from colleges and universties; only one has offered any money. He needs to throw harder than the 83 mph he is at now to get more serious offers. But… -
Re: My year so far
Thanks for your feedback! For #1 I meant to give it some distance to tell the story. The tighter I crop the more I lose. Same thing with the crop on #5. That was actually lit by an Einstein through a an 86" PLM and unfortunately they couldnt move much so I got what I got. I totally agree with you on #6. That was my first… -
Weekly Assignment #86: Submerged
We did shoot reflections, we had fun with bottles and liquid surfaces... This time we're going to shoot a (completely) submerged subject, incorporating both the object and the surrounding liquid into a single frame. Use of a polarizer to kill the reflections is recommended. As always, try not only to be theme-compliant,… -
Done! 86
NEW PHOTOS DOWN BELOW COMMENTS Well, I just did it. Put up the first photo in the entry gallery... Yesterday I did a newborn shoot of my granddaughter who came home from the hospital at 9 days old...I didn't look at the challenge, had edited this shot, and then decided I probably wouldn't find a better one...so in it goes.… -
Re: Show us your Journal Uses and Customizations
We've been using old journal style for nearly everything, partly because the multiple viewable photos per page and the side-by-side captioning work well for telling a story, and partly because it's the easiest format for my 86-yr-old mother-in-law to view and use. I'd be happy to see old journal as a choice in the… -
Re: Sweet Website Customization!
If anyone is allowing "music" to determine viewing quality for photography purposes, then closing the site before you manage to lay eyes on the work at hand, is a crying shame. And if it's loud enough to interfere with what your listening to elsewhere, the volume on your computer is most likely an easy button to reach.… -
Re: WINNERS of Mini-Challenge #85!!!
Congrats to you and you and ...wow, to me too!! Lol, I guess I need to start checking these threads more often... I am a new contestant, although I have been a member of Dgrin for a while, and will say I see no reason why TWO can't win first here...why not? Especially as you said, the challenge was "it takes TWO!!!" Thanks… -
Re: Three South African beaches
Homesick... Hi Alan, Nice to see that you've made a jump from STF to Dgrin. In the past, I noticed that you were from good ol' SA so I thought I'd just mention that I am as well. Immigrated in '86 but it still feels like yesterday...especially when I see your beach pics ...lekke! I love the 3rd one (Swartvlei), but it's… -

Re: New PC Careful what ask for
1st. Congratulations on your latest haul/win over in Challenges #86! 2nd. If it were me. I'd say Honey, lets take this back and get at least a quadcore; up to date chipset. The computer you have here is older tech, about 3 years old. The graphics card is fine. And it is now maxxed out in RAM capacity @ 8GB. It will handle…
