The Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation operates to preserving the memory and legacy of the Berlin Airlift. As part of that, they operate a Douglas C-54E as a flying museum, with displays depicting the airlift inside the aircraft. Although the BAHF is based out of Toms River, NJ, the C-54 spends her winters at Floyd… -
Re: Smugmug slow to load?
Slow for me too last couple days Mine has been slow for the last couple days as well. Tracert is below for both smugmug.com and my site. I find that the site responds in reasonable times, but loading is another story. For example, it can take up to a minute for all the thumbnails to load on my home page (there are 50), and… -
Re: The Coupons Help Thread
Because at the top of the page is this: Print Credit - This functions just like a gift card. If a customer does not use it up in an order, the balance will remain to use on future orders. You can optionally set a start and end date for its use. The way I took that, they're assuming if you're giving a Print Credit coupon,… -
Re: Adding a Frame to Images in Lightbox
While you can frame your lightbox-photos I would not recommend doing it. I had done it for a while, but found that portrait-format photos would create trouble as their borders would be cut off unless I would also make the photos smaller. But nevertheless here comes my former code (though "only" with a double border, I… -
Eyes #97
Hello, This Challenge started the same day my family adopted this new dog Atlas. He is a young Siberian Husky (mix) with cool blue eyes. Thus I knew I had to photograph these eyes up close, but it is not easy, he moves, focus, refocus, focus, craw on floor, etc... Of course I think eyes should be shot with no flash at that… -
Re: Olympus e400 Vs. Canon 400D Vs. Nikon 40D
The viewfinder crop factor is nothing new and is common to just about all prism finders. Canon's site shows the xxxD and xxD cameras at 95% coverage, the xD at 100%. In the film end the Rebels are worse at 90%. Same thing in Nikon's lineup: pro bodies are 100% and prosumer are 95%. Heck, even my Mamiya 645Pro prism finder… -
Re: So, who's on YOUR list for LPS #3?
My top ten in order of appearance: #9 Fields of Gold - thebigsky Beautiful sky, nice flowers, a little dark in the foreground. Made me feel like I want to be there. #13 Pennsylvania Railroad Bridge - Tessa_HD Living in SoCal, I miss the snow. Very tranquil feel, beautiful bridge and stream. #21 Untitled - Speck26 I'd love… -
Re: Got me a Canon SL1 to convert to IR
And it is simpler, also a fraction of the cost too -- until you get up into high quality 77mm and larger filters. But the problem with filters of this type is that light transmission is cut by ~97%, which translates to exposure times of 45 seconds to 2 minutes each. By then, wind and subject movement would render most… -
Re: Computer gurus & PS Wizzards
I just read this info and all looks good?? I have 16GB of Ram, dedicated scratch disk (Note efficiency stays at 100%). I ran an online speed test and with a 5D II psd file running the test on a 16 bit file took close to 2 minutes 44 seconds. The CPU was running between 95% and 97%. Efficiency stayed at 100%. When running… -
Re: Computer Monitor vs. TV.
Ah! Even more reason not to buy that Samsung. This probably isn't the best analogy but using CS5 with the Samsung would be like trying to paint an oil masterpiece on photocopier paper rather than canvas. You're using something like $1200 worth of software with a $300 tool that can't do full justice for effort. Better to go…
