Re: Why not block images from API if right-click turned on?
I disagree. Right-click is downright stupid protection. It's a very, very mild deterrent. It can be bypassed by almost any teenager in seconds. It can be bypassed at all times with a simple screenshot. If the API were crippled when right-click protection was enabled, then lots and lots of apps built on the Smugmug API… -
Re: Color text in text box
I use HTML blocks for my text fields. I do this so I can also use CSS in the same block if I ever need to. For instance, if I want bullet points I need to add CSS to create them. Anyway, while the body text is as I specify in my theme, I create different colored titles using HTML. This piece of code is what I use. You'll… -
Re: Am I the only one excited for the Nikon DF camera?
It is interesting how some people want more megapixels and some do not want more than XX megapixels. 16mp is perfect for me, smaller raw file sizes. Yeah hard drives are getting cheaper, but I hate to keep buying them. The biggest appeal to me is the non-AI lenses, some good ones are selling for so cheap; very few even… -
Re: What are you doing to make your customers feel appreciated?
I am researching about marketing and came across this thread. Decided to revive it a bit. Now I am no marketing expert (hence the research), but when I put myself in the shoes of the clients, a pen (unless you are talking Mont Blanc) does not make me feel that I am appreciated (no offense Wagon Wheel). So far all the… -
Re: sharing EXIF link
Unfortunately, some of the elegance of the design of the link system in Smugmug was lost with the addition of the ImageKey. If you know the imageID and imageKey, you should be able to construct a link anywhere to that image using basically the same rules everywhere. But, different things work differently (when they didn't… -
Re: Polarizing Filter effect comparison
Is it necessary to have both a CP filter and a UV filter, or can I pretty much just get a good CP and leave it on the lens all the time? Another way of asking this question is: Are the many (or common) situations where it'd be a disadvantage to have the CP filter on? As far as I know you're fine leaving a UV filter on… -
Re: Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM
I don't think that a 16-55mm is ever going to happen for full-frame. I've tested multiple 16/17-XX crop-sensor lenses on full-frame cameras, and let me tell you there is a HUGE vignette that would take a massive amount of added glass to cover, especially at ~16mm. In other words, there's a reason that no lens that ever… -
Re: HS Basketball W/flash
Frank- I'm using the Eneloop XX's (Link) I seriously don't know if it's my triggering or my batteries. At home in a controlled environment, I can do 1/8 power all day long with no problems. Get in the field and I'm screwed. I know Mark bought Multimax's, just wondering if I can use the nice tools (like signal disturbance… -
1st wedding price question
I am doing my first wedding as the official photographer this summer. I have taken pics at weddings where I am in the audience. I also took pictures at my brother's wedding for him and his wife even though I was in the wedding party (had my cousin help me). But this wedding will be the first one where my only job is to… -
Re: Where do I go?
You're welcome, Shark! I've very literal, so I'm going to go to the begining here, sorry if it's overkill! When a customer places an order for your photos you'll get an e-mail like this one from SmugMug - I doctored the customer name/address/order number etc. But this gives you a pretty good idea of what your e-mail will…
