Re: Not happy with resized Image Quality, what can we do?
I'm baaaaack!:): You didn't really think I would drop this one did you? :D Woot! I would be very interested in what you guys come up with. You guys are the best. I have a lot to say here, so here goes. Firstly, when I said lost details I was referring to the Smugmug compressed one. Not the original file you processed. That… -
Re: Help me spend 2K-- to get a camera for my day job
more detail Wow, thanks for all the responses. You are all such a great group! We have gotten personal in this thread, I guess it's what I get for posting a personal question, lol. I just recently purchased my current gear set up (not even a year ago), but having it, and depending on it to shoot people's weddings, made me… -
Re: Nervous about 2nd shooting a friend's wedding
The SB800 is a champ, it will have no issues with overheating. And on the SB900, just turn off the overheat protection and keep an eye on the thermometer readout. Personally, my current favorite Nikon flash is the SB700 actually. WAY more affordable than the obscenely large SB900 / 910, and almost as powerful. But either… -
Re: External Monitor
In part, the answer depends on what color space you shoot your images in, what space you edit in, how colorful is the subject you shoot and if you do your own printing on a high end multi-ink wide gamut printer. And your $$ budget. ** If you shoot in sRGB or RAW and extract to sRGB or exclusively work in B&W then a… -
Re: Photos Not Coming Up Under My Domain
First I want to address your 2 points of concern: 1) We didn't do this hoping nobody would notice. As the Head of Product I've spent a lot of time thinking about how we can get better at announcing changes within the product. We're not that great at it right now and we have a number of things in work to get better at it… -
Re: Dealing with other "shooters"... quick question
THIS ^^^^^ What would I do? I'd take control of the situation like a professional and rectify the problem. I cover this with the B&G when they book and point out the clause in my contract that says I'm the only shooter allowed to take pics at the event and anyone else taking them will constitute breach of contract. I tell… -
Re: How you decide correct exposure with Flash ?
1.) We're having this discussion because someone ELSE asked the question, lol. I'm the guy who shoots 99% ambient! 2.) Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge strobist geek who loves to use flash, but I usually shoot photojournalism without flash. It's not like I've never shot with a light meter before, I almost take offense at the… -
Re: What are YOU trying to do?
Great question, this is the sort of thing I hang around photography forums for I've been taking photos for over 40 years now, but for about 35 of them only really took landscapes. I tried to take good and interesting shots, but basically they were just a personal record of where I'd been and what I'd done. Then a classic… -
Re: Unhappy Engagement Session
I think where you may have fallen down is trying too hard to give them photos and failed at giving them a memorable experience. I learned long ago that the clients will be happy or not with the pics before you even show them to them based on how YOU come across at the shoot. Give them a good time, act the clown, get into…
