Re: Wow - 30" screen really changes things
If there was ever any doubt before, now I really feel like a computer and photo nerd. Here's my computer (all prices from Newegg): $279.99 - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor $159.99 - GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3P motherboard $179.98 - Crucial Ballistix 2GB (4 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)… -
Re: The 1500 miles week-end
Mile 1200: Salzburg I had almost 1000km ahead of me that day, so i woke up early. With eyes half-open, taking the luggage to the car, I went out of the building and… stopped. Fog. What a fog. Like in movies. Was 8 in the morning. So I said – I’ll hang around for a while, by the time I’m ready, it should lift. We eat, and… -
Re: Hasselblad CFV-50c
From the first link in the above post: "The CFV-50c comes with a cutting edge CMOS sensor (just like its H5D-50c sibling) offering photographers outstanding performance at all ISO settings. Now dedicated V System users – even those with cameras going back as far as 1957 – have access to the very latest imaging technology… -
Oregon lighthouse, feedback requested on 4 versions
Hi Folks, This is my first photo post on Dgrin. The Oregon lighthouse photos inspired me to seek your input on some shooting and editing decisions I made recently. I visited the Bandon, OR area in July and took the following photos of the Coquille River lighthouse at dawn. I'd be interested in honest opinions regarding the… -
Re: macbook vs mb pro vs pc?
Photoshop CS4 uses the video chip for functions that speed things up, which would be a + for the MBP. IIRC it also uses faster hard disks, but I could be wrong. CPU wise, it's obviously faster... but PS is fast enough for most anything on any modern hardware. The software? It works the same on either OS. My experience with… -
Re: How much camera is too much?
Photographing birds in flight dictate requirements that most camera bodies ( other than good DSLRs ) cannot meet. I have a GH3, and I have used it extensively in Africa, Florida, western US, and Equador for wildlife shooting, and I like it a great deal, but it is not - in my opinion - a good camera for birds, because birds… -

London
Hailing from Manchester in the North West of the UK, getting to London can be pretty expensive, especially if you want to maximise your time there by getting a train prior to 10am. Add on the cost of a hotel and food etc, and a weekend in London can be more expensive than a week in Spain, which is warm and sunny most of… -
Re: Call of the North
Call of the North (10): Geysir July 20 I decided to do a few "standard" trips. Touristy to the bone, but found it the optimal way to cover as much as possible in the little time available. Mass tourism, much like Spain and Turkey, with pickup at the hotel, transit to a bus, with a big group, travel to the "objectives", a… -
Re: Traveling to Washington State, recommend photo locations
Washington has too many great sites for photography, so a plan is a good idea. You won't have enough time to get to all you have listed. The suggestions above are all great. Tri-cities is in eastern WA which is on the dry side of the Cascades Eastern WA is as culturally different from Western WA as it is…
