Re: So maybe I should get a dSLR after all - but which one?
First off, Im propably not somebody that should be giving advice. Im pretty new in the world myself. Also, I have no clue about the S1600, but I just got a T3i fairly recently and it came with a 18-55mm and I purchased a 55-200mm lens for $199 new. I feel like I got the range pretty well covered. Sounds like you may want… -

Re: Wedding Albums
try my canvas through smugmug Since they partnered with smugmug, I've had quality issues with two non-premium My Canvas photo book type albums. I'd looked for reviews, but found very little. But both smugmug and the MC people were telling me that those were not for wedding albums, and the premium books were done by a diff… -
Re: Help in getting started with editing software
I'd recommend Photoshop Lightroom There are a number or choices:* Photoshop Elements ($99) * PaintShop Pro ($79) * Adobe Lightroom ($199 - introductory price) * And, many others... I would recommend checking out Adobe Lightroom. It's a new product from Adobe, but very much targeted at people who want a quick set of simple,… -
Re: good flash bracket for an L bracket?
Update If anyone is curious, I ended up with the Custom Brackets QRS-H2 $199 plus another $50 for the attachment brackets I needed. Still less then the $355+attachment bracket for RSS's version that no one seems to use. It comes with a grip and attaches on the OTHER side than this photo shows (although perhaps you can do… -
Re: $200 tripod?
Sturdy? No. Honestly, if you're abusive with your gear, $200 will most likely just be a waste. I've owned various tripods over the years, and have used many others briefly or extensively. Your best bet for $200, with an emphasis on sturdy, is probably a used old Manfrotto tripod that weighs a ton and is built like a tank.… -
Re: Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge
I just got back from the meeting and it was quite interesting. Out of the 200 attendees 199 opposed NASA's plans. The one dude who semi-supported it was the Republican candidate for the local state assemblyman position. You could tell he was a Republican because he had a crew cut and also walked like he had a stick up his… -
Re: Wedding Photo Books
Regarding Adorama, and My Canvas through Smugmug: I've ordered several books though My Canvas. The design options are great, and it's so easy to use pics clients mark as favorites in Smugmug...move them to a separate gallery and create the album. It's about as versatile as the new Asuka bookmaker software, and WAY easier… -

After shooting with my first camera (F717) for 1.5 years and completely being drawn into photography, i'm trying to move up into the SLRs. I bought a Nikon F100 body for photography class and now i need a lens. Except i didnt think it would be this complicated... :wxwax After learning the different between Wide and… -
FS: 20D, L bracket, 100F2, 100F2.8, 70-200 F4IS, 28-105
[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]Hi everybody, I'm pretty new to dGrin but have a long, long history of buying and selling on FM and POTN under the exact same username. I've bought and sold multiple 1-series bodies, L lenses, etc, all with perfect feedback across the board. My cell phone number is available upon request if you'd…
