Good books about Canon and Nikon's history, marketing, etc?
Hey there it's me again talking about my research project once again. Thanks again to all who filled out my survey, it's now up to 280 responses!! This well overdid my highest expectations. Today I am posting to find out if anyone has good recommendations for books or scholarly articles I can read which discuss the… -

WTT: Gateway 15.4" laptop for Nikon D80, D200
I have a great laptop that I no longer use that I am hoping to find a trade for. I am looking for a Nikon D80 or D200 (body only or body+lens and cash on my part) or a 70-200 2.8 (canon mount). Laptop will have Adobe CS3 Creative Premium suite installed. Valid install as it is my copy for work, but will not include CDs or… -
Fullscreen Image Layout with Nav Buttons
I wanted to play around with alternate gallery styles and one thing that intrigued me was having the images as large as possible (full-screen) while also displaying left/right nav buttons. Essentially to have the lightbox but with my site layout still intact and not in a pop-up window. After some CSS tweaking, here's it in… -
Re: Scanning slides, negatives, prints etc
So far so good I placed an order a while back. Their FAQ has some good reasoning in that if the negatives are gone a month, it's not like you're in a rush as they've probably been collecting dust for a while [I just developed one roll that had been sitting in the fridge forever... digital cameras!]. Nevertheless, I was of… -
Re: landscape focus question
Most will tell you to set the lens to the hyperfocal distance---however that's not a good idea generally. If there is an obvious center of interest, focus on that. Otherwise, set the focus to infinity. This way you'll lose a bit of (relative) sharpness in the foreground ... but since the objects in the foreground are… -
Re: LR Plugin publish issue
I'm a bit confused but let me clear up a few things. Metadata changes work as you mentioned, though actually a bit more complicated. If you want the image AND metadata updated, then you need to "Mark for republish" AFTER you publish with just the metadata changes. And even then only some metadata is replaced. The original… -

Re: A Trip Too Small: Fiji, New Zealand, and Some More
The next day we woke up still exhausted. We gradually gained some momentum and packed up camp and made it back out the three and a half miles to the road, and then we headed down to the main Yosemite Valley to find some cheap camping and hit some famous climbs. Tracy and I elected to take a rest day to try to recover, and…
