Surprise Files
Weirdest thing happened. I shot a wedding back in June, and as far as I was concerned it was in the can, a done deal, all she wrote. Then last week I was poking through my LR folders, kind of vaguely looking for something, and holy crap, I see, in my April 2014 folder, 225 or so photos from the wedding in June, photos that… -
Re: Good all around lens for Nikon D50?
I'll second the 18-70 DX. It's an excellent lens, and there are lots of them on the used market right now - I sold mine for $225. Pathfinder: the Nikon 18-200VR (though perhaps too expensive for peestandingup) is by accounts a very rare bird: a 10X zoom with extremely good optical quality. No, it's not a prime, but… -

Metz 58 AF-1
It's time for me to change out some of my gear, so my loss is someone's gain! I have three of these Metz speedlites. They are 100% compatible with (and a great replacement for) the Canon 580 EX-II. The wireless eTTL system is fully compatible with Canon and they even work with PocketWizard FlexTT5 triggers. I'd like to get… -
Physical Portfolio
Does anybody have a physical portfolio? I have a local doctor who wants me to bring my portfolio to him. I am hoping that by face to face meeting and showing of my portfolio, I can convince him that my photo's are best for his office (his partner is retiring and all photo's in office are hers - she is taking them all,… -

AF Micro Nikon 60mm 1:2.8 D, Lens is in fair to good condition with a few rubs and scratches (minor). There is a crack in plastic cover on the distance scale but the lens works as it should and the optics look great. I would like to get $275 obo shipped and paypaled in the US. I will offer a 3 day trial on this lens… -
Re: Great Tutorial on LAB color (easy one!)
Yup. You don't have to convert to Lab to sharpen, just use the Fade, Luminosity option which will introduce no damage in conversions to Lab and back* and allows you to further control this using the opacity slider. *Every time a conversion to LAB is produced, the rounding errors and severe gamut mismatch between the two… -
Re: S95 arrived
I started a gallery for the test shots I've taken. The low light dinner photos were VERY low light. I tried to edit them as I would do any other photos, so they are not SOOC. This should give you an idea of what low light, ISO800, handheld, and a little PP can do. The lake photos are SOOC and show the "miniature effect",… -
Re: >>> challenge 17 - comments and critiques thread <<
Is this stuff considered reflections? I have books that include stuff like this as reflections, Andy said something that made me think he considered it a reflection. Except for the silhouette I have in one of my photos, I don't think he likes those, except in a silhouette Challenge. I was on the beach, alone, well other… -
Re: Beginner/Intermediate Canon Starter kit advice
I was going to get into it about those 70-300 zoom's but I think I'll hold off for now. Thats probably the best you'll do without blowing your budget apart... I'd personally save up for a 70-200/4L but I can understand why beginner and L prices don't mix (although its only like 550 bucks) As far as a prime, the nifty is a…
