Re: Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM v/s Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM
I have been on the fence about these two lenses for some time. I borrowed the 100-400 for a week and had somewhat mixed feelings about it. These are my conclusions about it: On the plus side: 1. On my 5D (which has low pixel density) it is sharp enough. Could it be sharper? Sure, but is sharp enough that I wouldn't… -

Re: Thoughts on two macro lenses for Nikon
Unless you're shooting 24 megapixels on full-frame and analyzing the extreme corners at 200%, all three of those 3rd-party lenses will be RAZOR sharp. The Sigma 105, the Tokina 100, and the Tamron 90. (Did I get it right, ?) The difference will be, I believe Sigma now has an HSM version of their 105mm out now, and HSM will… -
Re: Goin to Costa Rica and Thinking of Getting a DSLR
I have a Canon 40d and a Rebel XT. When I went to Costa Rica last July I took my S5 IS. The reason? The S5 has a great built in zoom and to get similar zoom on a DSLR you'd have to have a pretty big/expensive lens. In addition, it rained a lot on some days so it was nice to have a camera I wasn't too worried about. When we… -

Re: Why is it always nikon vs canon?
ETA: A LOT of people are jumping to the Sony flagship cameras at the moment - their sensors are supposed to be out of this world. They may well become the "third" brand in portraits from what I'm hearing/reading at the moment........... Why iso 3200? What are you shooting that needs that kind of ISO? Most cameras, even… -

FS: Canon Stuff: 28-135IS, 1.4x, 50 1.4, Kenko 2x, 24-105L
This is a mirror post of my FM FS post. Like many I'm a "refugee" but I only recently found out about this site anyways. I've bought lots of stuff there (my 200/1.8; 70-200IS, 1D2, etc etc) but only sold things once or twice but the recent changes (and a link to here that was posted there) have prompted me to try making… -
