Re: Show Us Your New SmugMug Customized Sites!
Hi Denise, Thank you for a very constructive review. I actually agree with every point you mentioned. 1. I shall make gallery image titles static. 2. Initially, I uploaded all images in their full resolution, to use the site as a back up. I actually don't like how they are resized and Jpeg interpolation. I will probably go… -
Re: Show Us Your New SmugMug Customized Sites!
I loved the look of your site-- the perfect linen background, and I was delighted by the correspondence between your section header script font and your logo font. Your site isn't so simple, but the clean beautiful design makes it seem so (except as described below) and that is great. The area that I think needs changes is… -
Re: Show Us Your New SmugMug Customized Sites!
I've been using Smugmug since 2010 and I've only ever had one Gallery folder that was private, I basically used Smugmug as a hosting device for the images on my WordPress blog as opposed to uploading to WordPress (WordPress reduces the file size and added sharpening whilst Smugmug lets me set sharpening to 0 and keeps the… -
Re: Show Us Your New SmugMug Customized Sites!
Kent, Here are a few thoughts that may or may not be relevant because besides increasing SEO, I am not sure if your focus is more on selling prints or booking portraits and family shoots: 1. Great images 2. Remove the Buy feature from the Family and Senior photos (unless you have permission to sell them to the public. And… -
Re: Show Us Your New SmugMug Customized Sites!
Appreciate the background on the site and its purpose. On to an opinion from a random dude on the Internet. With that in mind, simple navigation is essential, no matter what the site's purpose. 1. Home page image flipper - made me dizzy, I could not concentrate on the images. Make the images near full screen slowly change… -
Re: Show Us Your New SmugMug Customized Sites!
I have been clicking around a little bit on your site, bjcoolphoto and a couple of things caught my eye: 1. The published book side (in the Travel lib) looks pretty messy with the blurb codes on top and pushed to the far left side not to mention some texts that seem to belong nowhere. 2. You have a New Zealand Photo… -
Re: Show Us Your New SmugMug Customized Sites!
If you're serious about wanting feedback I'd suggest selecting one or two photos, placing them in a new thread in one of the "Shots" forums and asking for feedback on those photos. It's a lot to ask for feedback on an entire gallery full of photos. For help on posting photos directly in a thread, see How to Embed an Image… -
Re: Show Us Your New SmugMug Customized Sites!
Done! I moved the skyline slightly and made it more transparent so hopefully that is a bit better! If you think it's still a problem I'll take another look and see what I can do! :D I've updated the logo, moved the background skyline slightly and made it more transparent and the logo slightly larger. 1) Oversight by me,… -
Re: Show Us Your New SmugMug Customized Sites!
Tom, I agree with MomaZunk on the subject of the logo. And I like your photos :) Additionally a very few points: 1) Your "Popular Gallery" has a Share, Like & Info button while the "Edinburgh Gallery" only has the Share button. All other galleries seem to have no buttons at all. => I would rather go with one setup on which… -
Re: Show Us Your New SmugMug Customized Sites!
Thanks! Ideally I'd like some form of a full-screen slideshow playing at the beginning. In Legacy SmugMug I had a much nicer full-screen slideshow that dissolved and transitioned much cleaner than this one. It also had control buttons for you to pause, go to the next or previous photo, etc. It used JavaScript and is not…
