Re: On Location Shooting Fees
In that case i could not tell you strongly enough that a 4 day is NOT the event to practice on. If your a bit off on your workflow, organisation or anything else, you'll go from being in difficulties to a total disaster. You really need to have all your ducks in a row before you go out especially with pricing. They would… -
Pathfinder's Latest Trip Report
Pathfinder's Report on traveling to and from Wild Utah II - It has become a tradition that after attending a shoot out, Nightingale and I will wend our way home across the Blue Highways, photographing and exploring as we go. We finally get home, spend a few weeks editing the images, and then post a trip report here on… -
A Christmas Visit from "Nobody"
I figured that you guys would appreciate this. This is true and occured only a few hours ago. My mothers side of the family held our annual Christmas Dinner this Christmas Eve at our local church. We have been holding this dinner at the same church for as long as I can remember. Our family has changed as people have passed… -
Re: >>> challenge 17 - comments and critiques thread <<
That looks more contrasty at the bottom than I remember it, I will have to go back and look. Did you see the one with the dog, no bird, but lots of dogs. I actually thought that the vertical with the dog was a fantastic shot, if I say so myself. I took about 6 shots of that dog coming out of the water, I only went vertical… -
Re: Sensor cleaning
Cleaning the "Wet" way works! EDIT: OOOPS - forgot to mention that YMMV - but It worked for me. After reading all the posts in this thread, I figured I would take a look at the condition of my sensor. I thought it would be pretty good. So, I mounted my 28-75 onto the camera, stopped it all the way down, zoomed all the way… -
Re: >>> LPS#11 Feedback Thread
70 - Travis - Focused I like it, try going tighter still in that pano crop, it will focus more attention on the rider. Cut into the guy with the red hat, he does have good interaction with the rider, but overall the extra space devoted to that isn't worth it in my view. 71 - JFreeman - Give Me A Lever Long Enough Super… -
Re: My Chinese National Week
THIS morning my wife was still a bit tired so I kidnapped our daughter and went out for a walk around the lake. I took quite a few photos. Chinese tourists also took quite a few photos. . . of my daughter! She is a crowd stopper. I’m not sure what the big deal is but it is so prevalent one family member nick named her… -
Re: Are my lenses holding me back?
I love this thread, would so love to wallow in it, I have always said that a good photographer should be able to shoot well with a Brownie, and that was before digital, but it is still true, if one wants film. Also the old pin hole experiments, I have never had the patience to do it, but in theory, I think a really good… -
Re: Pricing for Profit vs Bad Business or Understanding what your Business Model IS!
Sorry but if you are a "Business Consultant" as you claim, then you need to go back to Accounting 101 and review fixed vs. variable costs. Rent, unless you are paying a percentage of sales, is clearly a fixed expense. Doing this $10 job won't increase your rent. Insurance, unless you are paying a per-shoot insurance… -
Re: FoCal AF Microadjustment Software?
I purchased it this afternoon and used it on three of my lenses - here are some thoughts: Summary: This software is fantastic and I highly recommend it. I owned a LensAlign and used it regularly. It was just as accurate as FoCal but not nearly as simple. Long version: I e-mailed the folks at FoCal this morning with a…
