Re: Website critique
Clean off the pictures from the first page and just have enter site, which is kind of annoying to begin with I already went to the site then have to click to actually enter the site. Put all the info on what you do in the site somewhere, definitely change that text font, very hard to read, people are not going to put in… -
Re: confidence problems?
This thread has been awesome to read and very reassuring. I enjoy photography and have only ever viewed it as a relaxing (albeit expensive) hobby. Since I've gotten my smugmug (which was initially mainly just to easily share photos with my family) and as my skills improve, more and more people are asking me to take pics… -
Re: Lens for Weddings Question
I've been shooting proms to keep the money wheel rolling and my 24-70 f2.8L has developed some focusing issues. (this is my 75% of the time wedding lens on my 5d) and I dropped and smashed my backup a while ago so I have been shooting with primes a lot the past week or two. (new backup just showed up yesterday) I disagree… -
Re: Shutter release Cable !!!
Quite a lengthy discussion here: http://www.digitalgrin.com/showthread.php?t=84152 Plus I reviewed one found on Ebay: Ebay link Here is a copy of the review: Ok here is my report. Here is what it came with: You will see a a cable release with about a 2 ft. cord on it. A receiver and the remote. I included the quarter… -
Re: When??? (the future, or lack, of LPS)
LPS was a great contest! I enjoyed it completely, enjoyed the community, and it kept me shooting on a regular basis... It also made me a better photographer. It's a shame that it has to end on a sour note... Thanks to all who put it together and made it happen... I look forward to whatever challenges/contests are put forth… -
Re: Mini Challenge #105 -- A Post-Processing Challenge
Hi, Kristen, Here's the summary. I use Photoshop. If you try this, you'll want to experiment with the order of the layers and the blending modes, because it varies from shot to shot. (At least it does for me...it is still a work in progress!) 1. I chose my cloud photo and then did some work with curves on it so that the… -
Re: Getting out proofs
The only thing I don't do in Lightroom is cleaning skin where necessary. I do that in Portrait Professional. Depending on the photos, and how many closeups I am delivering generally 20 to 30 pictures. Well they don't "just" get put through Lightroom....I open every single photo in Lightroom and evaluate and/or adjust the… -
Re: Navbar/Menu: add translucent background w/rounded corners to each link; text opaque
Published) I was hoping to avoid that because I don't really like the way it's looking right now, but ok, I understand, thanks) I also have changed the code since I added the post. Here's the relevant section: /* Change the navbar fonts */ .sm-page-widget-nav-toplink, .yui3-menu-item .yui3-menu-label,… -
Re: Where is the discussion about being creative. Colours. Shapes
One of the unspoken truths about photographic images seen today, like many of them on 1x, is that they are not as they came out of the camera, but have been heavily edited in Photoshop, Lightroom, or some other image editing program. Today, it is not just how do I take photographs that are captivating and composed well,… -
18 Sony/Minolta AF Zooms (lot) $650
:clap :ivar :bow :barb :deal These lenses were hand picked by me from used shops over the past 18 to 20 months. I’ve tested all of them on an AF body and have put them head to head on the GH1 for my own edification. These are the better of over 30 zoom lenses tested. All of these lenses produce very good images when…
