Re: >>> DSS Challenge #5 (Primary or Pastel): Feedback Thread
On to page 7... 61 - 1pocket - A buoy's best friend - I like the idea here of a naturally monochrome scene with the primary highlights. Overall I think the composition works well, but for a themed contest entry it might be a tad cluttered. The dog and fish market sign compete with the central element, the colored bouys. I… -
Re: Appropriate fee for product photography services??
Sooo true, Sam! This "potential customer" already devalued the photographer's work before even getting anything! Not returning calls/missing appointments is a HUGE red flag. This is just for her to GET photos. Imagine trying to get paid, or getting her product in exchange if bartering. What a message that sends.... I've… -
Re: A Trip Too Small: Fiji, New Zealand, and Some More
For me, the main goal of this trip was to climb at Castle Hill Basin. This is one of the world's foremost bouldering areas, and for a number of obvious reasons. I've had my eye on these rocks for more than a decade, and to walk up the trail to this crag was a thrilling experience. We stopped off at the first rock on the… -

I did it all for the Nukus Nukus How to get around in the sticks U-Stan has an excellent train corrider from Bukhara, through Samarkand, up to Tashkent. They even have two high speed trains; the Registan and the Sharq. But outside that, you are pretty much on your own. There are two ways to get out of or into the Khorezm… -
Re: Sout East Asia
(drumroll) Le Grande Finale! Part VII- Bagan (Pagan) Bagan is analagous, in a sense, to Angkor Wat in Cambodia, although it does not have uninterrupted service as a major religious center, and it is a whole group of buldings and building complexes spread over 16 square miles. There are over 2,500 abandoned or… -
Re: Comments please
The following are comments and first thoughts as I went through the gallery. I didn't comment on every photo - just the ones that struck me one way or another. The comments may come across as more than just a little harsh - sorry. I wanted to give as much feedback as I could without taking a day to word-smith the C&C. So,… -
Re: Books!
Who's this "Prof Colen"? Anyway, this is copied from my MIT course syllabus - First, the required books .... Doing Documentary Work – Robert Coles – the compilation of a series of lectures the Harvard psychiatrist and documentarian gave at the New York Public Library. The lectures explore the ethical, intellectual, and… -
Re: >>>LPS#14 Feedback Thread
51 - clovisguy - Droplets My first impression is that a 10:4 pano crop on the top would look awesome. Love the droplet. 52 - RogersDA - Love is a like a rock Hmm, I like the photo, but don't get a feel for the theme. I do get some smooth vibe, but I get pulled toward craggy with the carving. I feel stuck in the middle. 53…
