Re: How To Maximize Your Findability (Search Engine Stuff)

Re: Need more PS help, please
Here are three different fast approaches: 1) Copy the background layer (Ctrl - J). Set the mode to Screen. Reduce the opacity to taste (40% here). 2) Make a Curves adjustment layer. Set the mode to Luminosity. Left click the mouse and hold it while scrolling over the shirts, you will see a black point moving up and down… -
Re: basketball help!
Just wanted to comment on these two points: 1. in 90% of gyms at least around me the lighting is fairly consistent. A proper manual white balance results in consistent shots. About 10% of the gyms dont have enough overlapping field of light and you get cycling temperatures so a custom WB is not practical. 2. 2.8 and ISO… -
Re: Air travel question
I did that once. NEVER AGAIN. I don't know what they did with my tripod, but it didn't survive. One of the legs had it's upper buckle completely ripped off, the one next to it was so badly bent that you couldn't extend the leg. The head also appears to have been rotated forcibly even though it was securely locked. After a… -
Re: Actress Headshots
A few suggestions. Keep the background lights and subject lights separate. I can’t tell for sure, but it seems that you are relying on the main lights to help light the background. That way madness lies. In the color shot, the background is too yellow, but the flesh is way too magenta. I have had this pesky problem.… -
Re: A la carte- VS- Package pricing
I do packages and try to be all inclusive. I have a basic package that is a downgrade from my norm and a elite package that includes more products. I prefer to shoot full day regardless... not like I can put in a half a day on another gig in most cases so I want to work the day and get it all unless someone just can't come… -
Re: A hypothetical you've all heard before......
Hey Bud. I don't know what experience you have in taking photos, but seeing as you know about Elements, I'm guessing you've used a point and shoot for a while. My suggestion will be a little different from the others that you've read. As you're an older guy, eye sight kind of heading south, I think you'll want a large… -
Re: Video Editing suggestions?
I've got a couple high-end pro suites for pro editing but have used Pinnacle Studio (9 and 10) for pro work for years. I've also used it in the classroom (I've taught documentary video for years) with low-time users in K-12 and university classrooms and have spec'd it for statewide use--got one call for tech support in 7… -
Re: DSS #30 Unofficial Feedback Thread - Envorinmental Portrait
First of all, thanks for the background on your "repose" portrait Jennifer. I still think it is an awesome portrait and would hope that you would indeed share a copy with the gentleman. I too, would like to thank everyone that took time to make a comment on my photo. Usually it takes me about the length of the contest to… -
Re: Nikkor Lens for Wedding - Pls Advise
rajul - I don't shoot Nikon (Canon is my poison of choice) and don't know much about the Nikon lens line-up, but I do know a thing or two about shooting in-door events. One of the things you want to capture at a wedding/reception is the sense of the ambient lighting, because that is what your clients are going to remember.…
