Re: I got problems!
When I did a stint with a school photography company, their statistics showed that the younger grades of kids sold the best and as they got older, the sales fell off. With the 2 final grades of highschool, they would only photograph them on a pre-paid basis where the lower years were all on spce/ approval and every kid was… -
Re: Polarizing filter acting as ND filter
I just came across this thread and I'm not sure if this question was really answered completely. Regular light (with no source that causes it to have a polarized bias) is "randomly polarized". Every light photon has a plane of polarization. Random polarization just means that each photon of light has a random orientation… -
Re: Diffuser
I am still experimenting with different diffusers, and trying to perfect my flash skills in general so take these comments as such. I am currently using a "knock off" omni-bounce and a lumiquest promax system http://www.lumiquest.com/lq931.htm . so far I am finding that the omnibounce is great for forward flash, and the… -
Re: Lens Chat.
I'm sure someone more qualified will be along.... shortly, but I'll give you what comes to my mind for a Canon 20D- Landscapes- Primes (all Canon EF)-14mm f/2.8L, 24 f/1.4L, 35 f/1.4L, 50 f/1.4 Zooms (Canon EF\EF-S)-EF-S 10-22 f/3.5-4.5, 16-35 f/2.8L, 17-40 f/4.0L, 24-70 f/2.8L City Scenes (Street)- Primes-Canon 14 f/2.8L,… -
Re: Tennis elbow for photographers?
As per your website advice column, you may want to lose the 24-70 lest brides ask you whether or not you use zooms! :-P Okay in all seriousness, yeah it can get heavy. A full-size camera body and a 70-200, OUCH. ...Which is why I try and stick with a grip-less D300 or D700, with primes on the D700 and crop-sensor zooms on… -
Re: Argh, Color differnt in browsers?
Looks like my $.02 in this conversation will make this thread worth the 135mm f/2L that I've got my eye on! Too bad the wife won't see it that way... It comes down to a question of what you're doing with your photos & what "level" you're working at. Someone - even an excellent, experienced photographer - who isn't at all… -
Re: Hello Everyone I'm the FNG
Undo, WX's link was awesome. There are so many lens combos on that page that you could buy a 1Ds MkII with the money spent...lol FWIW, I think you should be able to pick up the TL-55 for about $90 at places like Adorama. As for a flash, I read where quite a few of FZ10 owners are using the Sunpak 383. It's a super generic… -
Re: Dark skin
The problem with black skin is the variety and range of tones. There is equal variety in caucasian skin but the range is much narrower and the difference tends to be straightforward: magenta and yellow will be proportional throughout the range; the difference will be how far ahead of cyan they run. Pale skin will have cyan… -
Re: Dynamic range improvement
PS CS may be the answer... Another possibility. I know none of you want to hear something good about the Sigma DSLR's but I thought of a possibility on how you could slove this problem. Sigma Photo Pro is the program that is used to read the raw files out of the SD9 and SD10. The are ways to do this with PS CS but SPP has… -
Re: Denis Reggie + Bella
I've said this so many times- the industry is changing dramatically and there's basically nothing we can do about it. We've already seen the microstock industry turn into the iTunes Store of photography. Millions of photographers submitting millions of images, and profiting pennies... Many other photo industries have also…
