Re: New Desktop PC
One of the best upgrade you can have is a SSD http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-recommendation-benchmark,3269.html For the CPU, check some benchmarks: -Photoshop http://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/25 http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/cpu-charts-2012/-33-Adobe-Photoshop-CS-6,3169.html -Lightroom… -
Three Trees at 70 MPH
I’ve always loved the rolling hills of California’s Pacheco Pass (highway 152), especially in the springtime. The grass is green and wildflowers are everywhere. I really wanted to photograph this area but it’s a very dangerous highway and I couldn’t drive or walk. On this particular day I had my camera with me. I had to go… -
Re: Stats overhaul beta
Stats don't add up I keep track of my stats daily and here's an example where they just don't add up. I have a new gallery that I created on 3/20/10 and didn't make it public until 3/21/10. Every day I get a Google Analytics report for the previous day and then I go to the Smugmug New Stats to get info for the same period.… -

Re: Mini Challenge #157: Light painting
The TravelnLass (trepidatiously) enters the "Painting with Light" Fray... One word: WOA! Quite the interesting challenge JohnRog, and one that I'm particularly qualified to... have but a tiny smidge of experience with. Already some daunting competition here (and I must say - Pedagirl's entries especially - Woa! That "Light… -

Re: Slowness? Post your trace routes here!!
CHMOD - 3ms?!?! How in the world do you get that speed? And was the site still slow? Or were you just posting your results? If it was slow at 3ms - surely it's a datapull bottleneck somehow on the serverside... Is that a typo? 3ms?? Mine right now is running enormously sluggish again... Had a customer call and ask when my… -
Mini-challenge #152: Illustrated Motion
Mini-challenge #152: Illustrated Motion Thank you Syncopation for hosting the previous challenge "Environmental Portrait" http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=226966 Perhaps slightly narrower in scope than many Mini’s, I am looking for photos which illustrate something (or the camera itself) in motion and the image must… -
Printing Very Large Panoramic Prints (75 Inches Wide)
As a landscape photographer doing wide (3x1) panoramic photos I'm interested to know if SmugMug has any intensions of offering larger printing sizes in the near future? Ideally I'd like to offer my customers these sizes: 50 inches wide (127 cm x 42 cm) 60 inches wide (152 cm x 51 cm) 75 inches wide (190 cm x 63 cm) An… -
Re: Indoor sports, Canon 50mm focus issue
That makes it hard, doesn't it?:cry Were you using a 10D or a 300D? The autofocus on these cameras works fair enough in bright light, but when the light gets dim, they begin to slow way down and search a lot. Were you shooting in the Creative Zone - Av,Tv,M,P or in the Green Basic zones - portrait, landscape, etc? If you…
