Re: Nikon VS Canon VS ????
I will concur with ziggy's suggestion. For not much more, you get a semi-pro D200. You say you are getting back into photography so you will know your way around a camera. The D80 is a great camera as it has most of the inside of the D200 so you will not go wrong with it either. If you are going on the cheaper side, I… -
Re: Suggestion for second Basketball Lens???
I shot around 30,000 basketball images last year alone with a 70-200/2.8 in some of the worst gyms you can imagine, so I would take exception to a 2.8 not being fast enough. Most gyms I shoot are 3200ISO f2.8, 1/400th or 1/320th shutter speed. I would rather shoot 3200ISO and get 1/400th than 1600ISO and lose a stop or… -
Re: Buying from shops online ?
I Buy From B&H in New York :) Hey There Gus....... I just brought another lens from B&H a couple of weeks ago, and I always use my credit card for the Transactions. You cannot use it on an order that will come to more than $1,500 USA, that is why I didn't buy my Canon 70-200mm 2.8L IS USM from them, ended up having to buy… -
Re: 7D and Lenses
I wonder what you feel is the limitation of your 40D? You take some great pictures and I like your blog and other sites. On the central question I think digital photography is a extensive system and most important to a photographer is knowing how to use the tools they have available. Sara, you seem to be on-top of your… -
Re: My new BMW R12RT (was "Talk me out of it")
Well, you're right marlof. Everybody did a really poor job of talking me out of it. So I traded-in my 2002 R1150RT with 28K miles last Friday for a light granite gray 2005 R1200RT. I bought the first R1200RT from San Jose BMW. Well before the April 1 debut that most dealers in the area have scheduled. Chris Hodgson, the… -
Re: this is very upsetting: canon 17-55 f/2.8 vs. 24-105 f/4 L
I've read every word of this thread, twice, and while its confirmed some of my dilemma (almost identical to Ross' OP) its left me as indecisive as the beginning. I have never hijacked a thread before but this thread seems to have evolved into the "20D wide fast zoom" forum. I do have my first "alone" weddings lined up this… -
Re: lens?
Everybody always asks the "which ONE lens would you pick to shoot a wedding with", and that question is (no offense) kinda silly because, well, you just don't go into a wedding with just one or two lenses. What you REALLY mean is, "which ONE lens should I invest the most in?" And when you put it that way, the answer is… -
Re: egret, not as good as dixies
Jeff, I agree that the 2nd one looks better It looks sharper and I can see more detail. The first one looks kind of soft It also looks like you were shooting in tough midday lighting. That makes it even rougher to capture a white bird. Especially, if he's in mixed lighting like your 2nd shot. No digital is going to have… -
Re: Is it ok to adjust brightness?
First off, luminance calibration is based on print matching! If the print is too light or dark compared to the display, you can alter the calibration luminance (if you can go lower, some LCD's can't go very low) OR raise the light on the print. The print and display should match WITH soft proof on as well as with the… -
Re: First Semi-Boudoir
Advice from a girl who used to weigh 320 pounds (and not a professional photog at all). First of all, this girl is extraordinarily busty. Depending on how she feels about that, I'd recommend either playing it up, or seeing what you can do to make her bust look a little more proportionate to her body. That can involve…
