Re: DSS SOOC - First Tries - Thoughts pls?
ok I'm kind of puzzled.. 1 - 6 likes 2 - 1 like 3 - 1 like 4 - 5 likes 6 & 7 - not sures 9- 1 like I don't understand why the spider web shot got so many likes even though the spider was blown? I kind of like it, but almost didn't post it because the spider WAS blown. # 4 got 5 likes.. I took maybe 35 shots using different… -
Re: Turkey Hawk Posters
I work backwards a lot So I sort of understand what you are saying. Also, by pressures of the job, I've had to learn how to do one specific thing immediately, managed to do it -- but never started from step one to the end. I had to rush and manage the end first. So in that type of learning style/method I miss out on a lot… -
Re: Help. Tips for trip/cruise Alaska.
Lucky you. I love Juneau. When are you going? In Skagway, there is a GREAT pizza place if you're there in summer and like pizza. It's called Pizza Ria Roma 2 (or something like that). A guy named Freed owns it. Amazing pizza. I was just in Juneau for christmas break and used my polarizer all the time. But we somehow got… -
Re: a few from yesterdays wedding
thanks for the comments. moogle, yeah i think for that shot i was. i had been switching it on and off. Qarik- you know, honestly i struggled. more so than usual. i think for a few reasons. This day more than any other I really felt the limitations of my equipment. It's not that the light was any worse than what i've dealt… -
Re: Assignment #15: Panning blur
Nikolai, I have been thinking that perhaps you should give some kind of tips, or/and ask the photographers to do so, otherwise these assignments are no more than repositories of photos under a theme. Just an opinion. OK ? At the 1.st set of pictures I was using the 16-35 and the cars were pretty close to me: about 4 to 5… -
Re: Noob with concert shooting question
Welcome to Dgrin, gloo! :) Heh. I can relate. I loved shooting animals/wildlife, but "fell" into concert/band photography and had no money for fast digital lenses to shoot in dark venues with no flash <eek!>. I was used to shooting in sunlight! <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/rolleyes1.gif" border="0" alt="" >… -

Re: Entry level full frame?
Hey, I see I'm a bit late but hopefully this information is still some help to you. Right now it's a bit weird in Canon DSLR's...if you go with say a 5D mkII you'll get better low light performance but your dynamic range will only increase slightly. The new 80D crop camera is an significant improvement over both of them… -
Re: Action! (finally)
Good tips and assessment of the PJ style shooting. Correct me if I am wrong here (as I rely on your experience here) but I am thinking that Sportraits are something that maybe would be done more so after you have collected the larger lions share of the T&I images......? And if I put together a sportrait, of which I am sure… -
Re: Post! Share! Comment!
First and foremost, let me say this: All of the growth I have made as a photographer in the last three years is directly related to this forum. The feedback that I have received from all of you has helped me immensely, and I expect / hope to keep getting it. As I can not speak for anyone else, I will simply say that I…
