Re: SpeedTest - see how fast you are to SmugMug
Sure. Here's SF: smugmug's test: Download Speed: 729 kbps (91.1 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 216 kbps (27 KB/sec transfer rate) And for comparison again a recent test of the German server: Note: This time the test should be more reliable, because I minimized the windows now as soon I had started the test. I'm on a… -
Mini Challenge #216 - Worker(s) in action
Mini Challenge #216 - Worker(s) in action. Something similar has probably been set before, but I didn't check and wanted to get things on the move asap. I'm probably more interested in pix of (individual) people doing 'practical' jobs within the utility services or similar, rather than some pen pusher /keybd operator in a… -
Re: Color Management ??
She is standing in the shade in a forest - I would expect blue, green tones in this environment. Sky yields blue light ( as in shade ) and green leaves filter in the green light from sunlight. That is how the scene looks, what you are searching for is how you want it to look. I prefer the second image. When I read the pixel… -
Re: Images aren't sharp
I don't know about your other images but looking at the exif on the image you just posted I found a few things that may be the cause of your problem. In the exif data it shows your shutter speed was 1/45 and you had a focal length of 114mm. If you were hand holding your camera for this shot the shutter speed is too slow to… -
Re: Maintenance Alert: 8/28 10:00pm - 06:00am PDT
Painfully slow (Overseas) For the past 24 hours, the site has been painfully slow. I am not writing for myself, but also on behalf of all my buddies here in HK who have signed up to smugmug due to my recommendation. It takes over a min for the site to respond at times. And sometimes, simply time out. I know overseas… -

Re: Nikon 10.2 mp DSLR in 20 days
Good find! At the bottom of that page are (supposedly) direct comparisons and links to full-sized JPGs. I downloaded the bottommost images at full res, and the EXIF also confirms the camera types. The Nikon D80 image at ISO 1600 looks much, much better to me. These are the links to the images and then the full EXIFs via… -
Re: An Ongoing Journey through Africa & The Middle East [PIC HEAVY!]
Thank you everyone for coming along with the journey. It's been a really enjoyable one that has definitely opened my eyes up to Africa! I really appreciated all the excellent replies! Mirounga horribillis - Is that a Elephant Seal Bear? So this is it, this is my last post of Africa (for now). Although I do still have about… -
Re: Upload errors
I don't have time to mess with uploaders or debug this stuff - I just want this to work. StarExplorer has been working fine for me for multiple years for this very operation and none of Smugmug's uploaders will handle more than one gallery at a time so there are no viable Smugmug options. I started a multi-gallery upload… -
Newbie: Ruby, OAuth
I'm just starting to mess around with the API. I'm hoping to write something in ruby that will do a bulk update of captions for images in an account. I'm getting hung up on the use of OAuth and am using the oauth gem but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around how OAuth is going work without a browser. For the…
