Re: New to Birding
Thanks Guys Birding is a blast. Just might have to look at the 100-400 IS. Can't afford a 500mm, not for 5200 smackers. Sorry about the saturation in these. I shoot RAW 99.9% of the time and have a pretty smooth work flow...these were all in JPeg...for some reason after working on them in DPP, then importing to PS… -

US market Canon 30D DSLR Body only, comes with manuals, warranty cards, battery, battery charger, neck strap, USB cable, and all discs. The warranty ended in May. It has about 5200 clicks. Great camera just upgraded to a 40D. I've seen a few go on ebay for $620 to $640 plus shipping so thats kind of the ball park im… -
Best Way to get reach
I posted a few weeks ago a thread for info on the 400 DO. I have a 5D and want to get to at least 400 at f/4. The best I can do now is 200 f/2.8 x1.4. Liquidair suggested getting the 40D and the 100-400, forget the 400 DO f/4. That got me thinking of getting the 300 f/2.8 and the 40D for times I want reach. Then I have a… -
Re: Fuji S5200 or S9000??????
Well - I'm not entirely sure. Other than that newer is always better, right ;) I was hoping you pros could tell me. I know I would like the mechanical zoom ring better than the motorized zoom, and I think it's a little faster. I have also run into a few instances where I wished I could shoot wider than the 5200 will do.… -
Re: Reasons To Use A Silver Reflector
Bryce, your exposure and color seem off a tad on my laptop. Your readings of the highlights are in the high 245's. Your main looks in the correct placement vertically but you could have moved it more to the rear to get the Rembrandt light pattern. You've got more of a modified loop. Keep your subject more to the very back… -
Re: Nikon CLS and i-TTL discussion
Ok...so I was finally able to do the test as you suggested Ziggy. Here is what I did. I used my D300s, with a Tamron 28-75 (I do not have the 18-70 anymore) and borrowed a SB900. The SB900 was mounted on camera for all the pictures. Settings...ISO 200(sorry Nikon that is the start), 1/250 @f5.6. In a dark room. Only flash… -
Re: Bug mix 7th April
Thanks for the comments everybody - much appreciated :D I gather from our springtail expert that the baby springtail might not be a baby but just a male which in this species is smaller than the female :). Females go to 1mm long males goto 0.6 mm long ! 46thga - Not sure I have any secrets- they are all on the web… -
Re: Selling Thin Wraps and Metal Prints
I am trying I have a deal going where I am trying to sell to a Physicians office. They are thinking a few to 4 dozen large prints (20x30 or so). I priced these at a bit more than 3 times my cost. My pitch to the physician office is this; 1. Less cost for the office due to no framing. 2. less wear on the wall - lighter… -
Re: Windows screen resolution - for Ginger
rutt, would you recommend any specific graphics card for photo viewing? Right now this Dell Im on has the 128MB version of the GeForce FX 5200 or similar numerical model (forgot exactly which... been a while). I dont really want to overclock it on this machine (would do it if my LAN-partier machine was working right now!),… -
my world; horses
Uh, ok. So I'm new. Just figured I'd submit my favorite work I've done over these years. Currently, I am a self taught photographer from the ground up. I'm still in the early years of High school but plan to go to an art college. I first started photographing after I broke my tailbone about 2 years ago. Then I couldn't…
