Re: Issues with new Nikon 50mm ƒ/1.8 on ƒ22??
Problem "solved"(problem=loose nut behind shutter) Thank you guys for the quick replies! Spent a good part of last night searching all over the Internet(lotta junk). Found some good info on Flickr(they have a group just for this lens), and think I have the answer. Ziggy, you nailed it! Sorry about not including more info… -
Re: The Perfect Picture School of Photography
I just got his two books on this topic (Understanding exposure and Understanding Shutter speed) yesterday, and the contents' headings almost do match up - the only big reason I see that someone like me to do this course would be to get the critiques for my shots from the instructor or other fellow course-mates. I do have… -
Re: X&%#$ Police State
unreal Yeah, right. Everyone believed Iraq had weapons. EVERYONE. The UN, Bill Clinton, Russia, France, Germany, England. EVERYONE believed it. Iraq thumbed his nose at the UN for twelve years. Sadam could have quelled those fears if wanted to. Instead he decided to play a game of chicken. Sometimes you lose when you play… -
Re: Poll: 1Ds Mark IV saga
The D4 might squeeze out 16-18 megapixels without compromising the D3S's level of low light performance, I bet. That, and I think they may change up the AF system a little bit, but if you ask me that's not really much to get excited about; Canon's 45 point AF is already stellar and I prefer how the cross-type AF points are… -

Re: 2 weddings, 1 weekend
Metering Mode: For most situations, evaluative will get you close. Take a shot, chimp, adjust.* If the bride's gown is pretty much filling the frame, you will need to increase exposure by about a stop - camera will want to expose the gown as 18% gray - not a good idea * Likewise, if the groom's tux is pretty much filling… -
Re: Self-Portrait for Promo Purposes
This is not my writing, but here is an entry from the chromogenic.net photoblog below on how he got a narrow depth of field sharp focus on his eye in a self portrait. Cheers, Trish Shoot Yourself 5:19 PM / 18 May 2005 I meant to post this along with the self-portraits from a few days ago, but it slipped my mind. Anyway, if… -
Re: Tripods - All the parts?
I have a gitzo 1348 that comes with a plate. The reason for plates is that center columns are the devil :) They just aren't any good. Never listen to anyone with a center column, they are no good (both the column and the person) :) The 1325 is probably the best legset gitzo makes. I am just a tad under 6'6" so I needed the… -
Re: Gear required for 360 degree product photography
Hi, I had just left a response with much detail however it is not showing now for some reason?!?!?! let me try one more time.... 1. Go with an entry level DSLR ($350 USD) - Canon 1100D with 18-55mm lens - this should be verstaile enough for shooting a lot of different types of objects. 2. Tripod ($20USD)- Any basic tripod… -
Re: Part Timer's Career Post Mortem
Jack, thank you for the advice - I appreciate it. I have to say whether my son evolves into a competitive athlete or not I'd simply want to spend more time with him doing whatever than at a second job. I have to admit I am quite perplexed by all the parents that invest all their money and time into their kids sports -…
