Re: Photo Book Recommendations?
Blurb Thanks for your comments. This photo book is for our family pictures only, not selling to any clients. I've decided not to print every single individual family photo I take, but instead design a Yearly Family Photo Book so this is really for our personal use only - not to sell. The problem I'm coming across is due to… -

Re: Smugmug missing the Social boat?
Well, yes. But we can compare userbases: Facebook = 500 million users (as of July). Twitter = 145 million (as of September). But we both agree that the Like/Tweet buttons are kind of ugly, and that the "Be Social" stuff is pretty awful too. Auto-post would work for some people (a la Flickr, I presume you mean), but not… -
Re: Picture of the Day...or Week...or....
Nice work in your gallery, John, and you as well, Cab! Last year I tried a "Photo A Day" project, I ended up with 145 days worth of photos. When I started it, I did a bit of chasing around trying to make sure I got something every day (belly button lint photos) but since I end up shooting a lot of random stuff anyway, I… -
Re: Upcoming change that will affect stats
It's easy to rack up a ton of views just by yourself - each "thumbnail" image shown in the modern gallery styles counts as a view (anything Small size and larger). If you happen to load Collage Landscape and resize your browser, you'll see the browser refetch a whole bunch of the photos to get new image sizes. 145 views… -

Re: Fire!
Thanks for the comments. I actually burned a CD for them and delivered it yesterday. I gave them the size you see here, 900xwhatever, so they could enjoy a slide show on their computers, email them to friends, family, and the crews from the other stations that helped out, and make small prints if they wanted to do that. I… -
Re: Need more tips for California
I forgot to include shopping places on my list. I'm a shop-aholic What's on the shopping list? I can help! Heading from LA to SD, hit Carlsbad outlets and it's right off the freeway right near Legoland (kids under nine love this place). If you're in downtown SD, visit Horton Plaza; it's a typical mall, but the architecture… -
Re: My REVIEW of the Solmeta GPS tagging unit DP-GPS N1
Ok I think the truth is there is no such device. And personally I don't think there ever will be, since I suspect (and really hope) that camera manufacturers will finally embed GPS chips in their products. For me, I find that embedding GPS location data in my RAW files is fairly simple, and adds one additional step to my…
