Re: Photography business ethics
A very mild response from Mr Catto. Welcome. I'm not keen on people stealing others idea's and business plans and then claiming to be the best with nothing to back up their claims. I thought you might have posted a 'sorry' Sask2005. I was surprised to read Sask, that your 41 years old? I'd got you down as a teen and agreed… -
Re: What do your clients get picture wise?
There seems to be a trend in the US of digital receipt of images, rather than a printed album. Many choose to print themselves, and combine into their own album, and some never print more than one or two. I personally don't mind, so as to limit the amount of resource consumption, but then again, I'm a treehugger who lives… -
Re: Set specific album as landing page from URL
Hi Denise, This is monumentally kind of you to help me with all this information. I may not understand some of it, but you've given me a toe-hold to get going. As you may have seen on my Google+ site that I've been a bit busy over there. The only thing I've come to SmugMug for is to upload photos, let them watermark, and… -
Re: Jacksonville Zoo Butterfly Hollow
Certainly got some nice kit :) I'd generally agree with Pam ... but have other comments. 1. getting rid of the yellow / green bits would be a start ... but, for me, it'd be better if the BF was facing towards cam, rather than a rear quarter shot. Also, red tends to pull the eye a lot and thus ends up competing with the… -
Re: A Trip Too Small: Fiji, New Zealand, and Some More
After a bit of a delay its time to work through the last week of our trip. After Brunei we headed back to Malaysia for one last day before flying off to Singapore. We didn’t really have enough time to head to the really popular park because it takes a few days so instead we just stayed around the town of Miri and looked… -
Re: Saturday Market
Lee, I am pleased your not taking any offense, and I don't view this as an argument, but a simple discussion. I will differ with Glort with regard to onsite fine art printing. Also realize Glort is the king of super low cost onsite printing. Matching or even coming close to his costs would be pretty darn hard even for us… -
Re: Making Impressive Biz Postcards
Thanks for explaining, just like most things, when u get into it, there is so much to learn, and I am investing quite a bit to this mailing and timing is crucial, gotta happen like yesterday so thats why I am acting all "desperate." People using #, then gsm, then pts, etc for paper specs, so confusing. I guess I'll just… -
Re: Still Mulling Over Advertising Options
Sean.. check out my backlinks on: http://www.backlinkwatch.com/ for www.markdickinsonphotography.com and do www.ptph.com. I had my assistant sign me up for every single one we could find. Nothing really helping on those instances but we're on there. Sign up for www.ourweddingday.com <-- that will let you sign up then it… -
Re: Personal Photos on Professional site
Thanks Mark, I really respect your opinion. Professional photographer, no. Aspiring yes. One way I know of to be a professional is to act like a professional. Getting off topic, but none the less important to business: I have to point out that a gripe I've run across is professional photographers complaining about amateurs…
