I looked at them today also scott...very nice. I think though a 190 will do me if i dont rush this ebay job. Im looking at the 222 head as it puts a lot more height on the tripod & im a tall mongrel.
This is just up the road from me...That $325 0z is $250 yank. Is it a good tripod ? I was going to look at a manfrotto 222 ball head new. I like the grip on them. But thought i would ask in here about the Gitzo. Gus ...whom will eventually run out of questions andy.
Had anothe rlook at the Gitzos today...just too much for what i need. I am now the proud owner of a Manfrotto 190 pro with a 222 ball head. I dont have to bend in half to shoot any more. Thanks for all your advise guys
I use the Gitzo 1325 and love it but I have no experience with the 1226. I have a friend who uses the Manforto 222 (Bogen 3265 in the states) and he is very happy with it. The maximum weight that it can hold is 5.5 pounds which could be a problem if you have some long glass.
Im the other way around scott. Im 6'3 But when you add the 222 ball head onto the 190 it comes almost up to eye level. I have to keep some sort of rein on this animal so i will try & keep it at the manfrotto 190 if i dont get the gitzo.
Come on ...just give me a clue. My old tripod that i paid $40 for 2 years ago has now a perm list to the right as its collapsing under the 20D & 400 mm. Buy this Gitzo or go & get the manfrotto 222 I would think i am better off with the manfrotto...correct ?
