Re: Camera Help
The ability to reduce shutter speed is related more to skill/ability rather than age. :D I've seen some five year old that are *much* better than beginner adults. For people who can't even skate, I think I can get away with something as low as 1/160, but with the pros, I push it as fast as I can and hope that 1/1000 is… -
Re: Where to buy?
I have to agree. I would say that service is just as good at B&H, and I would go only for price and availability on-line as a factor for deciding between them, but when I need advice or help I go to adorama. It's so much smaller and more personal than B&H, but just as professional. At B&H I have to find the right line, and… -
Re: Blurry edges and how to stop them
I agree with Khaos. In a little more detail: Your shutter speed was 1/160 in the first pic, that's slow for "action". I think you were at or near your maximum aperture, but you could have bumped the ISO to 200 to achieve a higher shutter speed, maybe 1/250 to 1/300, which might have been just fast enough to top the motion… -
Re: Best DSLR for gig photography.
I currently use a Konica Minolta KM7D for my concert ( ALL MY SHOOTING ACTUALLY) shooting.....I have had to learn to use higher iso with digital than I did with film.....my film cache ran from ISO 50 to 100 in both print and transparency film....with some in the 160 range for medium format.....for lenses I use a 24-70 and… -

Re: How do you slow down your shutter finger?
Photomechanic will help in your process. I can take upwards of over 600 shots sometimes. I use PM to sort out the best pics and the so-so pics. It gets narrowed down to about 100-150. I download those to the HD. I then use DXO to make a basic edit of the pictures in batch. Basic is horizon adjustment, crops, exposure etc.… -
Re: Using 3 lights, tonights BB game
I have used SBs off the ceiling - no one noticed. I now use an Einstein bounce off the ceiling (sometimes one on each side of the court). I had the first comment this last week when the tip of the flash reflector was about at the ref's head level (it was tilted toward the court) - but even then the ref didn't complain,… -
Re: Indoor Sports (Professional Stadium)
Everybody, Finally I couldn't do the job I mentioned in the first post. My back suffered (and still suffers) pain which forced me to rest in bed. A colleague did the job for me. Anyways, the last weekend I tried to shoot some pictures and the pain returned. Here are some samples. It was difficult to hold the 7D + 70-200… -
The world of Lenses: Advice request
Hi All, So I'm looking for some advice. I'm pricing a move from fixed lens to DSLR. Currently looking at a Canon 350D (XT). I think I understand enough of the technology and usability issues to make the camera decision, but lenses are a new game for me. I need something that can take photos in *bad* lighting (Drama… -
President's Day Road Trip
Being that I had a three day weekend thanks to President's Day I decided to take a little road trip and eventually make it up to the Grand Canyon. Saturday made the drive from Phoenix to Prescott and did some hiking around Willow and Watson Lake in an area known as the Dells. Not sure how the name came about but the rock…
