Re: Let's recruit another Dgrinner - Surf Shots Advice
Surf Shots in Maui Aloha, Thank you for the advice thus far. I recenlty started shooting out of the water and I need some specific information as the camera settings in one particular surf zone for long board surfing. We use big 12' models for beginners who come to Hawaii to surf. I shoot a Canon 20D and 100-400mm lens… -
Re: Pricing Advice
Thank you Shinrya; this is exactly the answer I was looking for. Yea, I was thinking of making my own watermark in the mean time and much smaller; yea I Knew it was bad, also not sure why the date of when a photo was taken matters unless your doing a blog/journal thing; I figure quality is important, not the date. I was… -
Re: OK Hackbone... same bat time, same bat channel...
You tell me, wanna ya thunk? You should teach your fill flash. (I think it's better than mine!!) I know folks here might think I'm somewhat mean or possibly elite due to CC. But sooooooooo many folks are very happy with your first quick try.........now look at these folks.........do you see a professional… -
Re: New Smugmug Alternatives - a brief look
Totally disagree, the new Smugmug is not better than the opposition at all. If all you want is a sexy looking website with lots of big photos then frankly you are welcome to the new Smugmug, but I want a site that works, a site without glitches, a site that doesn't lose galleries and images by the thousand when I try to… -
Re: Clients login/varies by computer
Nope, it doesn't work in any circumstance. The Clients link in your sidebar is literally just a link to this folder: http://www.soniphotography.com/Clients . If you right click on the Clients link, and click "open in new tab", it'll go straight to that folder. And since your client galleries are all Public, they all appear… -
Re: Some questions, an intro, and some pics for feedback
Tripods - people love 'em or hate 'em :) Sort of depends on whether you walk about looking for (and hoping to find) subjects, or you find a suitable location (preferably target rich :)) ... and set up, hoping for subjects to come a'visiting. The bigger / heavier the junk that you're lugging about will influence your… -
Re: D600 Review
THAT'S not sexist at all! :-P Hey, I'm a manly man and I like my lightweight cameras too ya know! I use them for backpacking 10 miles in a day, and other stuff like that where you feel EVERY ounce on your shoulders and hips for 12 hours a day. I also have been testing a D600, and my initial reaction is something completely… -
Re: DSS 91 - Ice Macro and Luminaria
Heading out of town early tomorrow but here are a few shots I took yesterday in the rain with 2 different ice luminarias. I like having a visible setting in these shots but the walls of ice were a bit thicker so there aren't any that come close to the fire and ice kind of shot (#5). Not sure whether any of these will say… -
Re: Extension Tubes - Canon
With everything else being equal / the same ... ie using the same lens + cam combo, the 25mm tube will allow you to fill the frame (with same subject) to a greater extent than the 12mm tube. Using tubes doesn't change the focal length of the lens being used, but it does let you get physically closer to the subject ... ie… -
Re: Event Photography Rates
.49C for a 6x4?? Why don't you just give them away and be done with it? Hardly seems like charging for in the first place or worth your effort walking out the door. At these prices you are just bastardising and undermining the profitability and credibility of the industry. If your worried your new to the game and can't…
